From Husband to Enemy

During their baby's one-month celebration, a husband sits ignored while his wife—who normally never drinks—toasts repeatedly with his male assistant. When she claims the assistant is merely drinking on his behalf due to his weak stomach, his patience snaps. On their ninety-ninth toast, he publicly demands a divorce. Furious and tearful, she slaps him, citing her grueling three-year IVF journey to bear his child. Yet, he remains completely unmoved, ready to end it all over a single drink.

Chapter 4

“Since your father doesn't want you, I guess I’ll have to take care of you myself.”

Lincoln reached out to take the child from my arms. But the moment his hands touched the baby, he slipped.

A sharp cry rang out. Then silence.

The baby hit the floor.

Right as the room froze, Sherryl burst in. She arrived just in time to see the child sprawled on the cold ground and me standing there, motionless.

Her face turned pale.

“If you want a divorce, I won’t stop you,” she said, trembling. “But what kind of man takes it out on his own son?”

Without another word, she snatched up her phone and called an ambulance. The baby was rushed to the hospital.

I tried to leave with my things, but she wasn’t having it. Afraid I’d run, she had the security guards force me into the car.

At the hospital, the diagnosis came quickly. Severe concussion. Signs of internal bleeding. Even if the child regained consciousness, permanent brain damage was likely.

Sherryl stood there, frozen in place and then suddenly slapped me across the face.

“Andrew,” she hissed, “this is your own son. How could you?”

Next to her, Lincoln slapped himself hard.

“Sherryl, this is my fault. I failed to protect the child. If only I had been more careful…”

Sherryl’s eyes softened as she looked at him, her voice heavy with grief. “This isn’t your fault. If anyone’s to blame, it’s my son for having a father like that.”

The people passing by in the hospital weren’t quiet.

“His wife went through IVF to give him a child and he threw the baby to the ground because of a tantrum? He’s worse than a beast.”

“Disgusting excuse for a man.”

“No wonder he couldn’t have kids naturally. He doesn’t deserve to be a father.”

Amidst the noise and accusations, I stayed silent. Then I sneered.

“It’s better if the kid dies. I never wanted to be his father.”

The room erupted. The fury in the air became unbearable.

Sherryl’s eyes burned with hatred.

“You want a divorce?” she spat. “Fine. I’ll give it to you.”

“But before that, you’re going to pay for what you did.”

She took out her phone and called the police.

They arrived quickly. Lincoln exaggerated every word as he described the incident to them. And before I could even say a word, cold silver handcuffs clamped around my wrists.

“Andrew,” Sherryl said, voice as sharp as broken glass, “I gave you chance after chance. But you never appreciated any of it.”

“The divorce agreement is ready. Not only will you leave with nothing but you’ll owe millions in compensation.”

I looked into her eyes and smirked.

“Sherryl... this is just the beginning.”

Then I turned and walked out with the police, head high.

While our son lay unconscious in the ICU, Sherryl didn’t even blink. She left the hospital and headed straight to the office to call an emergency shareholders’ meeting.

She sat in the CEO’s seat, her face cold and unreadable.

“I have filed a criminal lawsuit against Andrew,” she said calmly. “I am transferring his 10% shares to Lincoln and appointing him as the company’s new general manager.”

The room was silent. Then one by one, the shareholders raised their hands.

As she looked at the unanimous agreement, a satisfied smile formed on her lips.

But just then… BAM!

The conference room doors burst open.

I walked in, wearing a custom-made suit, every step steady and sharp. “As the largest investor,” I said, “your vote is invalid without me present.”

The moment Sherryl saw me, her eyes widened in shock she nearly fell off her chair. “W-weren’t you arrested?” she stammered. “How can you be here?”
