Chapter 3

Wearing a suit, Harry appeared at the police station with an expressionless face.

My biological father, Harry, wanted to pay to bail Laura out, but I stopped him.

Picking up my phone, I showed him the trending searches. "Dad, I'm afraid netizens won't agree if you bail her out.

"If so, your beloved the Baker Group's reputation might be influenced."

My tone was full of gloating.

Harry had been in a superior position for many years. Obviously, this was a provocation to him, so he also raised his hand.

I cooperatively moved my face closer. "We are in the police station now. If you slap me, you will enter the jail to accompany my mom.."

Finally, Harry put down his hand angrily and took me home.

After we arrived home, Maria immediately rushed over to look at Harry with an innocent expression.

"Dad, how is Mom? It's all my fault. If only I hadn't been abandoned and grown up in the countryside, others would never discuss and laugh at me. It's all my fault."

Ordinarily, her pitiful appearance would be quite sympathetic.

Pitifully, Harry was angry because I offended him just now.

As expected, Harry reached out to push Maria aside, saying in disgust, "Since you know it's your fault, you should reflect on it. And there is no dinner for you tonight.

"Moreover, you are not a member of the Baker family. As a country girl, you should know your position. Even if you are..."

Seeming to remember something, Harry looked at me and quickly shut up.

But I understood what he meant. It turned out that he had known for a long time that Maria was Laura's illegitimate daughter.

With machismo, Harry would not tolerate Laura cheating on him.

Even though he also had another daughter who was the same age as me.

Maybe that was why he was reluctant to allow Maria to be a member of the Baker family.

Because it was a provocation to his dignity as a man. After all, Maria was the evidence that he was cuckolded.

But finally, he agreed and lived happily with them.

Probably, they reached a deal in private. Moreover, it was related to my grandfather's inheritance.

For the next few days, Laura stayed in the detention center.

I think it was a bit of a pity because she couldn't sense the sarcasm from other wealthy ladies.

She valued her reputation so much. Those sarcasms should have made her more painful than killing her.

During those days, Maria had been busy practicing the violin.

In my previous life, she performed outstandingly in the competition, so she successfully became a member of the Baker family.

Now, I was back. How could I allow her to be a member of the Baker family successfully?

Soon, the competition arrived.

Running over with a drink, Nora sat next to me.

"Amelia, you are so beautiful today. I believe you can definitely win.

"You are so perfect. You are good at studying, pretty, and able to play the violin. I wish I could do that, too.

"I am imagining I am standing on the stage with a violin. I must be charming at that time."

I smiled at Nora, "My princess, the violin is right here. You can take a couple of photos with it before the competition."

Hearing my words, Nora ran away with the violin in her arms, smiling.

Seeing Nora's happy expression, I couldn't help smiling.

After the host announced the start of the competition, the contestants came on stage one by one. But Nora didn't appear.

Sure enough, my best friend did the same thing as that in my previous life.

I stood up and walked straight to Maria's lounge.

She was wearing a purple evening dress. At that time, she was stroking the violin in her hand with a look of love.

And the violin in her hand was actually mine.

Without talking nonsense, I walked up to her to grab it.

Maria didn't expect that I would directly take action, so she let go in shock.

With a sound, my violin fell to the ground and was broken.

However, Maria looked gloating.

"Amelia, your violin is broken. You can't blame me. If you hadn't come in suddenly, I wouldn't have been so scared, and your violin wouldn't fall down the ground.

"But you should have no time to blame me, right? After all, without the violin, you can't participate in the competition."

Maria looked like a winner.

"Oh, Amelia, why do you show that expression on your face? Are you going to hit me? Come on."

I didn't yield to her but went up and slapped her twice.

Seeing her face swollen, I stopped with regret.

"It's been a long time since I heard such a ridiculous request. But, as your sister, I will satisfy all your requests. You don't need to thank me."

Maria was stunned for a moment. But soon, she pounced on me wildly.

I had a black belt in Taekwondo. How could a loser like her beat me?

Then, I pressed her to the ground and beat her again.

I didn't stand up until I felt relieved.

"Maria, this violin is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Since you broke it, you remember to compensate me."

After speaking, I left.

Going out the door, I ran into a staff member who came looking for me and reminded me that it was my turn soon.

Under Maria's surprised gaze, I took away the violin she had placed in the corner.

Looking at Maria, who was already dumbfounded, I reminded her, "Maria, I'll take the violin. After all, you bought it with the money of the Baker family. Now, it should be returned to its original owner.

"As for your tool, you have to solve it alone."

After speaking, I walked towards the stage without hesitation.
