Selena's hands trembled slightly as she approached the grand gates of her father's estate. The tall, iron-clad doors stood as imposing as the man who had built the empire behind them. Her heart thudded against her ribcage-not out of fear of the estate, but because she knew what awaited her inside.

Her father's brow furrowed slightly. "Go on."

Harold rose from his chair, moving around the desk to stand before her. He was taller than she remembered, his presence almost suffocating, the air charged with authority. "Selena, this man..." His voice faltered just slightly. "He is dangerous. His reputation... he is ruthless. I've heard the whispers. The stories. He does not take prisoners, and he bends the world to his will. Harold's eyes softened for just a fraction of a second, betraying his concern, but his voice quickly hardened again. "Protection? Strength? Is that what marriage is to you? A tool for revenge?"

Her father studied her for a long moment, pacing slowly in front of his desk. Then, unexpectedly, he stopped, folding his arms. "Very well," he said, his tone sharp. "If this is truly what you want... I will not stand in your way. But understand this-this marriage changes everything. It will alter alliances, provoke enemies, and force you to play a dangerous game. And if you fail..." His voice trailed, leaving the threat hanging like a blade.

Selena met his gaze. "I will not fail, father."

He studied her a moment longer, then, almost reluctantly, nodded. "Then you have my acceptance."
