First Betrayed, Then Cherished Chapter 1

Cassandra POV.

Marriage, The bond that threatened to ruin my mental health. Before the incident, I knew marriage to be the most beautiful relationship a woman would ever have.

After I lost my parents in a fatal accident, life became even more difficult for me and all I knew was sorrow. My parents weren't wealthy so there was no inheritance for me to survive on.

I walked about the streets of Nestle city doing menial jobs until I found the job of a cleaner at Belle’s luxurious restaurant. While working there, I met the love of my life. Or at least I thought he was.

He was the owner of the restaurant and I was just an ordinary cleaner but he was still so kind towards me. I was sneaking back to the restaurant to sleep because I had no place and he caught me in the act.

I trembled and pleaded for him not to arrest me when he assumed I was a thief trying to break into his restaurant. He gave me a chance to explain and after I did that, he doubled my pay so I would be able to rent a home.

It didn't stop there. He started spending time with me, getting me gifts.

“I'm just trying to ensure you don't lack anything,” He said after giving me money when I wasn't even due for payment. From the way he treated me, I knew the relationship we shared was far from a boss and his employee.

In a matter of months, our undefined relationship bloomed into marriage.

And boy he treated me like a queen!

He understood me completely and I tried to always make him happy. We loved each other unconditionally.

Little did I know, I was married to the devil himself!

As my eyes sparkled with tears that threatened to spill, I paced forwards into the room.

“You're such a despicable man!” I yelled at him with all the pent up anger inside but Mike remained indifferent.

I was starting to wonder if he was the same man I knew. The same man that would wipe my tears the moment he saw me crying. He was so different, so cold.

“All these years, I thought you loved me but you dare to cheat on me?!”

The blue haired lady sitting on Mike's lap claimed his lips, making him unable to speak. The scene made my stomach knot in pain and I could feel my heart getting heavier by the second.

The tears finally flowed down and I turned to the side, unable to keep watching them get all romantic in front of me. My eyes caught a glimpse of the small wooden cupboard with a flower vase sitting on top of it.

I turned my gaze back to Mike, the lady in his arms was still keeping him busy.

My brows clanked and my profile split into a frown. My fists clenched as I stood there, deciding whether or not to listen to the voice inside me that encouraged me to hit them with the vase.

Without thinking about the consequences, I walked towards the cupboard, picking up the vase.

I stood diagonally from Mike and the lady. As I stared at them, I felt a rush of anger flow through my veins.

I lifted the vase to my head level but my hands trembled. I couldn't do it.

I sobbed softly, ‘You shouldn't care about him. He deserves it,’ the voice inside me encouraged.

With shut eyes, I threw the vase across the room.

When I opened my eyes, I saw the shattered pieces of the vase scattered beside Mike's couch. It didn't hit them but Mike was riled up.

He rose up, leaving the lady on the couch. He walked towards me with blue eyes that glared daggers at me, “Are you crazy? Do you know how much that costs?”

His black shirt and pants he was wearing suited him well. It embodied the wickedness in him.

I scoffed with rounded arms around my chest, he stood taller than me but I wasn't intimidated.

“I don't care how much it costs. I'll break as many as I can until you explain why the fuck you're cheating on me with that random woman!” I snapped at him.

He lifted an index finger in front of my face, “Hey! You had better watch your tone. She's no random woman. She's my wife!”

My face turned pale. Did he just say wife? But he was married to me goddammit!

I turned to look at the woman on the couch and as if on cue, she walked towards Mike, sliding her arm around his waist while wiggling her fingers at me with a smug smile on her face.

Shit. That was the same ring I was wearing. And that wasn't the only thing. My nose caught a familiar scent of lavender coming from her. It's just the same as my cologne.

My eyes became clouded with tears as my trembling hands pressed my lips from the realization that the times he said I smelled like home, he was referring to her and not me.

I returned my gaze back to Mike, “If you were already married, why the hell did you get married to me?!” I thundered with a quivering voice that resonated with the pain I felt inside.

“My wife can't birth a child, I need you to birth a child for us,” He pocketed his hands into his pants casually like he didn't just declare me a substitute for his barren wife!

My hands caught the grip of my head as I tried to make sense of the fact that the past eight months of my life was built on lies!

My knees wobbled and I found myself on the ground, sobbing my heart out into the indigo rug.

I suddenly felt something fall thrown at me and when I picked the paper, it turned out to be a divorce paper.

The thought of being used made me sign into my freedom.

And now I'm back on the streets with a small black bag in my hand.

I don't know where I'll be headed from here and I don't know what next life would throw at me.

The honking of a vehicle distracted me from my thoughts and it was then I realized I was in the middle of the road.

Before I could make my way to the other side, the speedy car hit me with full force.
