Finding Freedom in Release

In the evening, I brought Hailey to a very romantic restaurant.

We enjoyed wine, steak, and violin sonata.

It was as if we had returned to the time when we were passionately in love.

I clearly remembered that night, in the soothing violin accompaniment, I held a rose in my hand and knelt on one knee in front of Hailey.

I said softly that I loved her.

Hailey took the roses, hugged me tightly, and gave me kisses.

I could remember the thunderous applause given by people around us.

Just as I was lost in my memories, Hailey's phone rang again.

It was not a phone call, but a message.

After reading it, her face changed greatly.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Something happened to Mathew!"

"What happened?"

"He was poisoned by alcohol and sent to the hospital for emergency treatment!"

Hailey suddenly stood up as if she was sitting on pins and needles.

"I'm sorry, honey. I have to go back to Riverland to see him."

"You can ask a subordinate to deal with that kind of thing," I said flatly. "We're so far away from Riverland. Do you have to come all the way back to Riverland on your own?"

Hailey looked hesitant, but in the end, she made up her mind, "I heard from the doctor that Mathew's life is in danger. He was poisoned because he had to entertain his clients. As his boss, I should go back and have a look.

"Honey, I'll fly back to Riverland tonight.

"Why don't you stay here for several days? I'll come back to you when Mathew is fine, okay?"

"There's no need," I waved my hand. "I'll travel by myself for the next six days.

"You know me. I won't change my mind easily."

Hailey gritted her teeth and left in a hurry.

Watching her leave, I picked up my glass and gulped down a glass of red wine.

It was bitter and a little pungent.

Because of a message about Mathew, the anniversary travel I had been planning for so long was over just as it began.

Hailey left firmly without the slightest hesitation.

In less than ten minutes, I finished an entire bottle of wine.

After paying the bill, I staggered back to the hotel. When I walked into the elevator, a girl in a white dress was inside.

She was very young and beautiful.

I was so drunk that I didn't think much about it.

Soon, we arrived at the ninth floor.

The girl left the elevator as if she was escaping from me.

As I walked out, I felt so dizzy that I fell heavily to the ground.

There was a sharp pain in my head, and then I lost consciousness...

When I woke up, I found myself lying on the hospital bed.

Soon, the doctor came and said that I was really lucky. If my girlfriend hadn't sent me to the hospital in time, I would have been in danger.

I was confused. Just as I wanted to ask about my "girlfriend", the girl I met in the elevator came with a bill of payment in her hands.

I suddenly understood it was she who saved me, and then expressed my gratitude to her.

The girl was a college student who was traveling in Mabel County alone.

After chats, we found out that we were both from Riverland. This finding brought us closer.

I transferred the medical fee to her and proposed another 2000 dollars as a reward for her kindness.

However, she rejected the reward, saying that she offered help only because I needed it.

I had no choice but to give up. Suddenly, I found that Mathew updated his Instagram.

In the photo, a woman was feeding him porridge.

Although the woman in the photo didn't show her face, the familiar wedding ring on her finger had explained everything.

The woman was Hailey, my wife.

She flew back to Riverland overnight only to take care of drunken Mathew.
