Fall Into His Heart
Chapter 4
In the distance, Emily was walking towards this side in high heels.
The pain from the biting on my neck suddenly disappeared.
"Joseph, it's ridiculous that you want to belittle me and yet want to own me."
My eyes were full of disdain.
Joseph pinched my neck.
His tone was cold.
"You are so cruel."
Before I could see his expression clearly, the car door was unlocked.
In just a moment, I was pushed out of the car.
The pain spread throughout my body.
Emily's surprised cry also sounded in my ears.
My elbow was rubbed and perhaps bleeding.
I lay beside Joseph's car in such a miserable state, just in front of Emily.
I heard the sound of high heels walking quickly.
I endured the severe pain and stood up.
I wanted to get up from the ground, trying to make myself less embarrassed.
"How are you?"
A gentle female voice sounded in my ears.
I turned my head to the side and tried to cover my face with my hair.
"Joseph, even if she did something wrong, she is still a girl after all. How can you treat her like this?"
Just a short sentence, I became a shameless mistress.
I didn't want to argue too much.
Then I picked up the bag and left.
"Shortcuts are not that easy to take. The faster you go, the harder you fall."
I had always been a revengeful person.
I felt so angry.
I turned around and wanted to fight with Joseph.
But the moment I saw Emily, I felt heartbroken.
I tried so hard to protect my self-esteem.
The moment Emily appeared, everything became useless.
In the first twenty years, everything about me was arranged by the Shawn family.
Due to my excessive spending abroad, it was full of debt calls.
But I was penniless at the time.
To avoid debt, the phone card was pulled out and thrown into a river.
And the Shawn family had already dropped me out of school
So many friends disappeared in one night.
The one who was still willing to reply to messages was the man who wanted to support me.
My life was extremely dark at that time.
Debt and despair had surrounded me.
I couldn't even think of a poor student far away in a foreign country.
After all, he still needed my support for his life.
I also assumed that our relationship was centered around me.
So I unilaterally declared the end.
The company held a banquet.
I stood at the door as a receptionist.
I looked up and saw a beautiful couple standing out among the crowd.
Joseph and Emily were arm in arm in the center of the banquet.
They were a perfect match.
I suppressed the bitterness in my heart, no longer looking there.
"Helena?"
A voice full of uncertainty broke into my empty mind.
When I turned around, I saw several rich girls with whom I had once been at odds.
I cursed inwardly, "What a bad day."
Then I put on a standard professional smile.
"Ma'am, our banquet is about to begin. You can find your seat and take a rest."
"You must be Helena."
They seemed to have found a rare toy.
Everyone started talking at once.
"Helena, how did you end up like this? If you have any difficulties, you can ask us to help you.
We are from the same school after all."
Maisy took my hand in a pretentious manner.
She pretended to be innocent.
But I still remembered that she bullied others in school.
When I slapped her at that time, she cried.
"Do you work here? Why bother so much?
It's easy to get you some money."
As soon as she finished speaking, a burst of laughter rang out.
This kind of humiliation was what they were best at.
There were no wounds.
But it was indeed hurt.
It hurt deeply.
I had no intention of arguing with them, so I turned around and wanted to leave.
But someone pulled my back.
"Let me go!"
"Helena, if you leave now, I guarantee that you will lose your job."
They showed their true faces.
"Is that it? Maisy, I haven't seen you for so many years and you're still so petty.
If I were you and became a nouveau riche, I would secretly be happy with the money, instead of showing off like a fool and making people laugh at me."
The contempt in my tone angered her even more.
She said harshly.
"Helena, you don't still think you are the daughter of the Shawn family, do you?
How dare you be so arrogant?
No one is protecting you now."
After Maisy finished speaking, her followers behind me suddenly grabbed my hair and dragged me out.
It was hard not to attract other people's attention with the noise.
But before being discovered by others, I had been dragged out of the banquet hall.
