Fall in Love Again: Blooming the Best Marriage
Chapter 3
"What do you mean I did it on purpose?
"You've wanted to break up with me for a long time, so I just agreed as you wished."
What an unfair accusation he made!
I had never thought about breaking up, though at the same time, I had never thought about getting married.
Compared with those cute boys, I loved Gerard more.
"Babe, you were the one who proposed the breakup, not me. I love you very much, but since you told me to break up, I don't think it's appropriate to persist in sticking with you, is it? We were happy when we were together, and I think we shouldn't become enemies after we broke up."
I said as I gazed at him affectionately and silently took a step back, not for any other reason, but mainly because what I vomited was too unbearable to look at.
He seemed to have noticed this as well. His stunning face looked sullen even more.
I swallowed and plucked up the courage to say, "To be honest, I don't think we are a good match, so the breakup is the best outcome for us. Merry meet, merry part. Let's say goodbye here."
Gerard chuckled in a deep and hoarse voice, "Lindsey Yard, what a good job you did."
After saying this, he gradually turned his piercing gaze to Lana, who followed us out.
"You mean brat, don't think I'll help you just because you are my son. You have already broken up with my little sister, so don't bother her anymore. Call her Aunty Lindsey now."
I couldn't help but snort with laughter.
He glared at me, gnashing his teeth with a fierce but intense look.
"Forget about such meaningless mode of address. Just call me by my name."
After all, he was my ex-boyfriend, so I should still show him some respect.
However, he didn't treat me with respect after I did.
The next day, the cooperation I had just reached fell through for unknown reasons.
"Lindsey Yard, what's wrong with you? Last week, you were so certain to win this cooperation with him, but now he canceled it. Did you offend him?"
Hearing the editor-in-chief's question, I asked in the same bewilderment, "No, when we discussed the cooperation before, we were readily agreed on it."
I had no idea why this guy suddenly went back on his words.
"I don't care. I've already reported this to our superiors. You must win back this cooperation no matter what you do! Otherwise, find another star of the same rank as Xavier Chase. You must fill this vacancy."
How could I find such a person so easily?
Xavier was an extremely popular A-lister who was hard to find a chance to meet.
But he was also Gerard's cousin, which was why I could successfully persuade him into this interview.
Coming out of the editor-in-chief's office, I took a deep breath.
All of a sudden, I remembered I had added him as a contact before.
I quickly took out my phone and found the chat with him, but immediately after I sent a message to him, all I got was a red exclamation mark.
Oh gosh, how boring this top star was!
Unwilling to give up, I contacted Xavier's agent at once. Fortunately, he didn't turn me down and agreed to meet with me.
It was just that the place he suggested meeting me was a little unpleasant.
I looked at the Hecht Group's office building, the tallest building standing in the city center, took several deep breaths, and almost wet my pants in nervousness.
But I still bit the bullet and walked in.
"Hi, my future cousin-in-law. Oh, no, I should call you Ms. Yard now."
Xavier arrived earlier than me, and he had already finished playing a round of the game on his phone when I reached the meeting room.
He put away his phone and leaned back on the sofa casually, completely unlike his usual public image of an aloof superstar. He exuded a rebellious air, totally different from that Gerard had.
"Xavier, I'd like to ask, we had reached the agreement before, didn't we? Why did you suddenly cancel it?"
