Chapter 2

I treated this son as a waste and took care of Angela carefully.

But I always felt a little guilty towards my son. So when my son handed over Kathy to me, I didn't refuse. It was not a problem for my family to support one more person.

I gave Gertie a sum of money for Kathy every month, not even enough for my daughter's petty cash.

I thought Kathy was the kind of woman with ulterior motives. She saw that my family had money and wanted to rely on it and not leave, helping my son fight for the family property.

So at first, I didn't give her a good face. I pretended not to know about the little actions my daughter secretly made against her.

But Kathy's reaction was different from what I expected. She knew that I didn't like her, so she simply avoided me and even hid in the kitchen during meals.

I would have almost forgotten that there was still such a person in the house if it weren't for seeing her figure and her growing belly in the villa occasionally.

I only remembered that one night I was awakened by the baby's crying and then I knew that she had given birth to a child.

Kathy didn't ask me to find a confinement nanny for her, nor did she trouble me. She silently took care of the child herself, afraid of disturbing us.

She walked for so long last night without stopping, I feel guilty. No matter how bad my relationship was with my son, Kathy's child was still my grandson. I, as a grandmother, was so irresponsible.

Suddenly, a ringtone pulled me out of my memories.

"Hello, is this Mrs. Weston? I am your private banker. Your daughter, Angela, is holding a deposit slip and wants to withdraw money. Seeing the large amount, I wanted to confirm with you."

My face instantly turned cold. Angela dared to silently take away my money.

I coldly snorted, "I don't agree with her withdrawal. Don't give her a penny."

After hanging up the phone, I saw that Kathy had been awakened by me.

When she first came, she would get lost just by going out the door, but now she can handle all the hospital procedures for me.

Kathy was about the same age as Angela. But Angela would never go to the doctor by herself.

I still asked in doubt.

"Kathy, are you familiar with this hospital?"

Kathy was slightly stunned that I would ask this, and then smiled and told me.

"Every time I have a prenatal check-up, I come over here by myself. I've long figured out the way. Even when giving birth..."

Kathy suddenly stopped and didn't continue speaking, and my guilt deepened.

I knew what she wanted to say was that she also called the emergency number and went to the hospital by herself when giving birth.
