Chapter 3

The bouquet fell to the ground, and I looked down at the sparkling diamonds on my skirt.

I had sewn them on with so much joy, stitch by stitch.

My vision blurred, and I looked up at the sky.

How annoying! Even Bali had bad air.

Unsurprisingly, I ended up trending online: "Capital Circle's Young Lady Was Stood Up at the Altar" and "Davis Group Heiress Ditched by Fianc, Billionaire Wedding Becomes a Joke."

In my seafront house, I never took off my wedding dress, eyes glued to the screen.

My mother couldn't bear it any longer, choking back tears as she hesitantly spoke.

"Girl, it's been two days. At least eat something."

"Maybe Otto got busy at the hospital and forgot to reply to your messages."

My dad snorted, his tone filled with displeasure.

"Forgot? What could be more important than Alexa's wedding?

"I never liked that boy, who's always getting too close to a mental patient and manipulating my daughter! What kind of logic is that? Does he really think the Davis family is an easy target?"

I stayed silent, my hunger making me see spots.

Finally, the screen lit up. I hurriedly clicked it open, but when I saw the picture, my blood ran cold.

A front-facing photo of Otto was exposed on the trending list. He was smiling and holding Ivy's hand, heading to board the Ferris wheel.

"Shocking! Capital Circle's Runaway Groom Cheating, Publicly Holding Hands with Another Woman at an Amusement Park."

Thanks to the paparazzi, the 4K ultra-high-definition picture showed Otto's white phone conspicuously in his pocket.

Tears fell on the back of my hand, my heart aching to numbness.

Looking at the message on Line that said, "I'll wait for you to come back and continue the wedding," I cried and then laughed.

"Look, Alexa, you are a complete fool.

Otto doesn't love you. Your wedding, everything about you, can't compare to the weight of a patient in his heart."

Suddenly, I went mad, throwing my phone at the wall and starting to tear off my wedding dress.

My palm was cut by the diamonds, blood dripping onto the pure white gown, glaringly red.

My parents were frightened by my actions. My mother cried and held me tightly, gripping my hands.

"Honey, don't do this. You're scaring me."

My dad hurriedly called the front desk for a medical kit.

Overwhelmed with hatred, I broke free from my mother's grasp, stood up sharply, and tried to tear off the humiliating dress.

But I stood up too quickly, blacking out and fainting.
