Chapter 2

I loved Levi for eight years. My love for him peaked the day we got our marriage license.

Then it slowly fell to the bottom after Ellie appeared.

Levi's love probably began to fade from the day he regained his memory.

If it weren't for that accident eight years ago, Levi and I would never meet.

He was a noble young master from a wealthy family. I was just a fisherwoman from a remote village.

That day, Grandma got up early to collect seafood and found Levi lying on the shore in a terrible state.

The situation was urgent. Grandma used her crude first aid skills to save Levi.

But when he woke up, he had lost his memory. He didn't remember his name or where he was from.

Levi was wearing a suit and leather shoes. Even though I had never seen such clothes before, it was obvious they were expensive and out of place in the village.

Grandma wanted to take him to the police station. Levi, in his amnesiac state, clung to Grandma who saved him.

Thinking of my parents, who were lost at sea, Grandma softened and took him home.

Then we lived together.

The first time I saw Levi, I knew the saying from the books was true.

"Beauty is a trap."

As we spent day after day together, the initial amazement turned into a burning love.

At that time, our lives were very poor. The village was remote. We often had power and water outages.

In severe times, even eating was a problem.

Although life was hard, we were really happy.

We would wait for the sunrise together every day, rush to collect seafood after the tide receded, and count the stars on the beach during power outages.

We were once each other's only love.

We thought we should be on the same household register.

So, under that starry night, we got together in that remote village.

There was no grand wedding, no complicated ceremony. It had two passionate and pure hearts.

Sometimes, I selfishly thought that if we hadn't gone out that day, maybe we wouldn't have ended up like this.

But life has no ifs.

On our way back from registering our marriage license, we had a major car accident.

Levi suffered a severe head injury to protect me.

I stayed by his side in the hospital for a whole month until he finally woke up.

I cried tears of joy, but he instinctively shook off my hand.

After a brief pause, he pulled me back into his arms. At that moment, something seemed to have changed and yet remained the same.

His chin rested on my neck. He said excitedly, "Abigail, I remember now."

It turned out he was the eldest son of the Smith Group in Jolite. He was ambushed by enemies while out at sea and had to jump into the sea as a last resort.

Later, he took me back to Jolite.

Here, the Smith family was powerful. He was the flamboyant Levi, no longer the simple and naive Levi from the village.

And Abigail from the village didn't fit in here. Everyone secretly mocked and ridiculed me. The Smith family didn't allow any mention of my existence.

After I was framed time and again, Levi finally couldn't help but coldly say to me, "Abigail, you shouldn't go out if you don't have to. You really embarrass me."

He started staying out all night socializing, stopped answering calls and texts. I saw him less and less.

The once burning hearts slowly turned cold.

Six months ago, Ellie started appearing by his side frequently.

On the rare occasions we met, Levi always talked about Ellie.

From the day Levi regained his memory, I knew this marriage was borrowed and would have to be returned.

I just didn't expect it to be so soon.

This relationship began with Levi and ended with Levi.
