Chapter 1

"Marquise Diamond Ring, $300,000."

My heart pounded as I saw a notification from the jewelry store Mattie Randolf, my husband, always visits—a receipt for a purchase made yesterday appeared in his email that was logged in on my computer.

As the COO of FunVerse, of course, I held all our CEO’s data, especially since he was my own husband.

But of all the pop-ups that appeared, this one had been bothering me since morning. Birthdays, anniversaries, or other important dates were still far away, so why did he buy the ring I wanted all the time yesterday?

As I clicked on the email, my breath hitched in my throat. The delivery address was not ours but Cameron Hayes.

The sight of her name made my stomach churn with disgust.

Cameron, a game streamer under FunVerse who had skyrocketed in popularity recently. People worshipped her, calling her the "real-life Aphrodite" with her beautiful face, hourglass figure, and her sweet, flirtatious voice that melted every man’s heart.

No one seemed to care about her gaming skills or techniques; they only watched her for the fantasy she provided.

But to me, she was nothing more than a homewrecker, a woman who had been a parasite in my marriage for the past three years.

Three years ago, she had slithered into our lives, right when I was at my most vulnerable—pregnant with our first child after five years of waiting.

I had heard whispers among the office staff before.

"The new streamer is flirting with the CEO."

"She’s always hanging around Mr. Randolf's office."

So, I confronted Mattie one evening, “The staff said there’s a new female streamer, and she’s flirting with you. Is that true?”

Mattie barely glanced up from his phone, nodding absentmindedly. "Yeah. But you know how it is. Women flirt with me all the time.”

I clenched my fists. "And you’re just letting her?"

“She’s just being friendly,” he shrugged, finally looking at me. “Come on, Becca. You know how these things work. I’m the CEO. I sponsor dozens of female streamers. They throw themselves at me because they want to be the next big thing. Doesn’t mean I’m interested.”

For years, I had endured the loneliness of being his wife, when Mattie seemed to take advantage of his Oligospermia condition and said that he would never impregnate another woman, especially since he always used protection.

That was why, how many times I confronted him, he always justified it, always had a reason, and forced myself to trust him.

But that day, I finally wanted to give up. So, I asked in agony, tears filling my eyes, "What should I do to make you stop your bad habit, Matt?"

Mattie smiled as he answered, as if he had waited for my question, “How about getting pregnant? The doctor said, even though I have a problem, the pregnancy rate is still high. But why aren’t you pregnant yet?

“It seems like there’s a problem with you or you deliberately don’t want to get pregnant because you’re too focused on your career.”

The accusation hit me like a slap. How dare he?

It did not mean I never tried, but it was really impossible for us to do it the natural way.

So that day, we agreed to register for the IVF program under the promise that he would never entertain any other woman anymore, and I promised myself I would do whatever it took to make him see me again.

Mattie was true to his word, playing the part of the supportive husband. He accompanied me to the clinic, kissed my forehead, and whispered sweet promises about our future.

He promised me he would change, that our family would become his priority.

But I should have known better—some things were simply unchangeable.

Because only weeks after the embryo transfer, my secretary came to me with a video.

She looked hesitant as she held the tablet in her hands. “Ma’am… I wasn’t sure if I should show you this, but….”

The video was from the office security cameras I planted in his office.

As I tapped play, my world shattered.

There, in his private office, was Mattie and Cameron.

His wedding ring was still in his hand but his hands were all over her. His lips against hers as if he was a hunger beast.

I clenched my stomach, already forming a bond with the fragile life inside me, and stormed into his office that evening, rage shaking through every inch of my body.

I slammed the tablet onto his desk, playing the video. "How dare you break your promise, bastard?!"

While watching the video, Mattie did not even blink.

He sighed, rubbing his temple as if I was the one inconveniencing him.

"Come on, Becca. The doctor said we can’t have sex while you’re pregnant. Your body is too weak.”

I stared at him, my hands shaking. “And that gives you the right to cheat on me?”

He leaned back in his chair, completely unbothered. “I’m a man, Becca. I have needs. Cam, she was just… filling in the gaps."

Something inside me snapped. I knew it—he was using that accusation again; the same one he always said since seven years ago.

He always believed if a man was free to fulfill his desires elsewhere, as long as claiming love had nothing to do with it.

But as a woman, I could no longer endure it.

I clutched my stomach, my voice breaking. “Then I’ll abort this baby. I’ll get rid of it, Matt. Since you clearly don’t care….”

His entire demeanor changed in an instant. He shot up from his chair, his hands grabbing my shoulders, desperate.

"No! No, Becca, don’t say that!" His voice cracked, eyes wide with real panic. "We waited so long for this baby. I want this baby!"

I tried to push him away, but he held on.

"I was wrong, okay? I messed up. But don’t take this out on our child. You want to hit me? Fine. You want to be angry? Fine. But don’t hurt our baby."

Tears streamed down my face. My body trembled with rage, heartbreak, and exhaustion.

"Promise me," I whispered. "Promise me you’ll end it with her."

Mattie cupped my face, his gaze locking onto mine. "I swear. There’s no one else—no one I will touch but you, Rebecca. You know you're the only one I love."

I believed him and I forgave him again. Even though deep down, I knew it was only a matter of time before he betrayed me once more.

Then at that moment, as I came to his office to confront him about the diamond ring, my intuition was right.

There, in Mattie’s office, Cameron was perched comfortably on Mattie’s lap, her arms draped over his shoulders, her perfectly sculpted face tilted up at him with that same seductive smirk I had grown to despise.

My blood boiled. Three years. Three damn years. And despite all his sweet words, all his false promises, here she was, still wrapped around him like a snake that refused to loosen its grip.

“Bitch! Slut! Bastard!” I screamed as I walked closer and beat them up.

Cameron shrieked in fear and practically leaped off Mattie, scrambling backward as if she had seen a ghost before finally running out of the office.

Meanwhile, my so-called husband had the audacity to reach for me, his grip firm around my arms.

“Becca, what are you doing?! Hey, calm down!” Mattie’s voice was rushed, panicked, but he was still trying to control me.

I had had enough.

Just looking at his face made me sick. Without a second thought, I raised my knee and slammed it straight between his legs.

“Ugh!”
