Chapter 2

On the night of July, the temperature outside was as hot as fire, but my heart seemed to have fallen into a cold cellar.

In the banquet hall, Eva took Bryce's arm and moved back and forth among the guests, who were toasting each other.

I had always accompanied him to such social activities. He could let me be his companion as before, or explain the reason of bringing Eva here.

However, Bryce didn't mention it at all.

He took her to meet our old friends, who we had known, since we started our own business. When he raised his glass to greet everyone there. Eva next to him probably made them stunned for a moment.

A female friend sent me a WhatsApp message, hinting, [Bryce's company is full of talents, and a female employee is not inferior to men.]

I smiled and replied, [I heard that she can drink a lot.]

[Then I'm going to know her.]

[Drinking is bad for your health. It's not worth it.]

People came and went in the banquet hall.

Eva openly flirted with my husband, but that scumbag enjoyed that very much. His hands, which had been holding my hand for five years, were caressing the waists of other women at this point.

I sat in a dark corner and watched them stick together like glue.

  I felt my stomach churning.

  So disgusting.

Probably because of the unhealthy diet and worrying so many things during this period of time, my gastroenteritis broke out again after a long time.

I went to the hospital alone. It was already nine ten in the morning, when I finished the IV.

Bryce finally called me back at six o'clock and said, "I have a party to go tonight. I won't go home for dinner."

  It was really, really funny.

It was already late. What he missed was a midnight snack.

I looked at the video of Eva showing off her love. She might have taken the video sneakingly. Bryce, who was a little drunk, leaned lazily on the sofa, and let her lean on his shoulder. They looked at each other affectionately as if there was no one else around.

  At around midnight, Bryce returned.

He hugged me from behind with a chill. My nose was immediately filled with the fresh scent of shower gel, mixed with the smell of woodiness perfume.

It had been some time, since the woman, who wore this perfume, broke into our marriage out of the blue, but I had inadvertently been fooled by Bryce.

I closed my eyes, but Bryce said in a hoarse voice, "Yolanda, I know you haven't slept. No need to wait for me next time, okay?"

I remained silent and allowed him to hug me.

He seemed to be really tired. In the middle of the night, he still had to drive his girlfriend home. It was really tiring to drive back and forth for more than an hour.

Seeing that I didn't respond, Bryce put his chin on my neck. Soon, I heard his breathing gradually stabilize.

Bryce's phone suddenly lit up in the darkness.

I picked it up from the bedside table and saw Eva's WhatsApp message, "I'm also lying down. Good night."

The word "also" was used appropriately, so that I could easily guess that Bryce had sex with her before coming back.

  ...

Early the next morning, I woke up in Bryce's arms.

I moved his hand away, but Bryce tightened his arms, and his palm was already up along my waistline. "Yolanda, I want you."

Of course, I knew what Bryce wanted to do, but I didn't.

I thought he was gross, so I didn't want to have intimacy with him.

"It's time for you to go to work." I broke free from his embrace and got up.

Bryce ate his breakfast silently. He took a bite of the carrot stuffing dumplings I had made last night, and then frowned slightly.
