Chapter 2

“Julian, I think I saw you having dinner with another woman at the restaurant last night.”

I spoke softly, my voice shaking.

Tears immediately began to fall.

Julian panicked. "It was just a casual dinner, nothing more."

He stammered, struggling to explain.

"But I even took a photo."

I pulled out my phone and showed him the picture of him dining with Tina.

"Clara, you have to trust me. Tina closed a major deal for the company, so I took her out to reward her. Don’t overthink it."

Julian explained smoothly, as if he'd said it a hundred times before.

I watched him lie.

“Wahhh, I knew my husband would never cheat on me!”

I threw myself into Julian's arms, but my stomach turned with disgust.

"But Julian, I still don't feel safe!"

I pulled out the marriage asset agreement from the shelf.

Julian seemed a bit surprised, but still, without even glancing at it, he took the pen and signed it without hesitation.

“Thank you, Julian!”

I said sweetly, wrapping my arms around his neck.

“I love you the most, Julian!”

Love? Please, I’m more in love with money.

The next morning, Julian took a rare day off from work.

Maybe he felt guilty.

But honestly, when there’s no love left, what’s the point of pretending?

I watched Julian move around the kitchen making breakfast, and called out to him as he was busy.

“Julian, let me drive you to work.”

I slipped into a glamorous dress, wrapping my arm around his, acting all soft and delicate.

“Sure, I still have some work left to do,”

he said, sounding so casual.

What a show-off, pretending so well.

Julian started a business with his friends right after graduation, and in recent years, he had seen some success.

I sat in Julian’s grand office, watching him rush around, praising him endlessly.

“Knock knock” Someone knocked on the door.

I felt Julian's back stiffen instantly.

“Mr. Shaw, I have the documents for you.”

It was Tina Mooney.

I immediately stood up and rushed over to grab Tina’s hand.

“Thank you so much, Tina! I really appreciate you helping Julian with the pressure.”

Tina looked startled, quickly waving her hands and saying it was nothing.

I pretended to smooth down her blouse. “Tina, your clothes are so nice, what brand is this?”

I was actually eyeing the name on her arm.

"Eliot Haines."

Not my scumbag husband’s name, but...

How amusing, this pair of scumbag lovers.

Tina seemed a little flustered, “It’s really nothing, Mrs. Shaw. It’s all part of my job.”

She stole a glance at Julian’s expression.

“Could you show me around the company?”

I held her hand.

“After all, I’m thinking of working here too.”

Julian clicked his tongue in displeasure. “Clara, I can take care of you, you don’t need to work.”

“But I want to help you with your work.”

I looked at Julian with wide, innocent eyes.

He sighed and waved his hand in resignation.

Tina led me through the company.

“Mrs. Shaw, I heard Mr. Shaw say you used to study design?”

Tina asked, trying to please me.

“Yeah,” I answered coldly.

I stood by the company bulletin board, reading the name: Outstanding Employee of the Design Department—Eliot Haines.

“Thanks, Tina! You can go ahead and get back to your work,” I murmured.

Back in Julian's office, I hugged his back.

“Julian, let me work in the design department,” I said softly.

“Why the sudden interest in coming back to work?” Julian asked.

“I just want to be here and work with you,” I said, putting on my best pout.

“Alright, you can come with me to work tomorrow. I’ll talk to the head of the design department.”

“Okay!” I replied sweetly.
