Divorce Caused by Mango: If You Don’t Love Me, Get Out!
Chapter 2
The day I found out I was pregnant with my second child, I was just over a month pregnant.
I hadn't even had time to be happy.
Then I received a mango cake that Charles asked Yolanda to send.
Yolanda smiled sweetly, "Mr. George is too busy. This is the cake he personally ordered for your anniversary, and he asked me to help deliver it."
I stared at the pile of mangoes for a long time.
It didn't matter anymore who made the cake.
It was all the same to me.
That was a secret between me and Charles when we were young.
At that time, I was a school bully who followed those tattooed young guys on the street and regarded them as elder brothers.
And Charles was a transfer student who came into our school.
I was notorious in school.
On the first day of transferring to the school, Charles was reminded to stay away from me.
But no one knew that I hung out with those uneducated thugs just to protect myself.
One day after school, I rescued a cat from several students who had almost abused it to death.
As I raised my head with teary eyes, I met Charles' gaze.
He helped me pay for the exorbitant treatment costs at the veterinary hospital.
I was keenly aware that the way he looked at me was different from others'.
After hurriedly thanking him, I left quickly.
But from that day on, he often happened to appear around me like a ghost.
Having been beaten by reality since childhood, I was very clear about the insurmountable gap between our identities.
I just wanted to leave a not-so-bad impression on him.
But I didn't expect that he would witness me in such a disheveled appearance.
My stepfather came back home with different women, holding newly bought mangoes in his hands.
He strode up to my mother, pried open her mouth and fed her the food.
My mother was allergic to mangoes and would fall into a coma every time she ate them.
That would make it easier for my stepfather to do bad things.
It was much later that I realized her allergy was so severe to cause shock.
Looking at my mother shivering in a coma, I was ignorant and fearless as a young child.
A physical fight broke out after a heated argument with my stepfather.
He chased me into a dark alley with a kitchen knife.
Just then, I happened to run into Charles who was playing with the stray cat.
Finally, the police car and ambulance arrived at the same time.
Charles' face was covered in blood, but he still smiled at me, showing his white teeth.
Just before he passed out, he said to me, "Look, the cat is fine."
I stayed up all night with him without sleeping.
After he woke up, it was natural for us to be together.
With tears in my eyes, I gently stroked the gauze on his hand.
"If you want to separate someday, give me mangoes."
But the eighteen-year-old Charles used his only remaining healthy left hand to gently scratch the tip of my nose.
"Little glutton, you will never be able to eat it in your lifetime."
Actually, there was a secret I didn't tell him.
I was also severely allergic to mangoes.
The next day, my stepfather came to my school and threatened to expel me.
When Charles heard the news, he limped into the office regardless of the wounds on his body.
A call was made to the elders of the George family.
He traded his own future for my studies.
"If Jenny is expelled, I won't attend classes anymore."
My consciousness became blurred, and the memories of my childhood seemed to be getting farther and farther away from me.
The doctor waved his hand in front of me, and I was brought back to reality.
"Mrs. George...Miss Smith, your postpartum depression is already very serious. It seems to have affected your normal life."
I sighed and asked the doctor to increase the dosage of the medicine.
As she was a professional psychologist, I once shared my experience with her.
She expressed pity and helplessness.
But she could only follow my wishes for conservative treatment.
In order to avoid being discovered by Charles, I deliberately paid in cash.
After getting the medicine, I walked out with the bag, but ran into Charles who rushed in.
The force was so great that it knocked me to the ground.
I gasped in pain.
But he stood in front of me, holding Yolanda firmly in his arms.
The moment he saw me, his eyes were full of disgust.
"You follow me when I come to take Yolanda for a checkup? You said you won't go home, but in the end you go wherever I go!"
Yolanda surprisingly spoke for me this time.
"Jenny just came out of the hospital. She's probably not feeling well. Don't think too much about it."
She turned her head and looked at me, with a hint of provocation in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, Jenny. Don't get me wrong. I'm not used to wearing high heels so I sprained my ankle. Charles was afraid that it would affect my work, so he insisted that it was a work-related injury and brought me here for a checkup."
"He was like this when he was young, but no one knew he would even become more kind as he grew up."
I vaguely remember the day when she came to deliver the mango cake.
Yolanda walked with 12cm stiletto heels, but her steps were very light.
She was like a true winner.
I frowned and didn't want to talk to them.
But after listening to her, Charles' eyes fell on the bag in my hand.
After putting Yolanda down on the ground, he grabbed it.
After a moment, he said contemptuously, "Postpartum depression? Jenny, can you act more realistically? How long have you been giving birth? Are you depressed now? Is your brain slower than others?"
I curled my lips in annoyance.
The next second, I directly snatched the bag from his hand.
"Yes, you are right. Make time to come to the hospital for a checkup. Slow brain reactions are contagious."
After saying that, I prepared to leave regardless of his reaction.
But his voice, filled with obvious anger, sounded behind me.
"Chris won first place in the competition, and today is the family feast at the old home. As a mother, are you not going?"
I paused, then moved forward again.
As soon as Charles' angry curse came out and he was about to rush up to stop me, he was stopped by Yolanda.
"Charles, my ankle hurts so much..."
So he turned in another direction and took Yolanda back to the hospital.
