Divorce Amidst Betrayal

I thought Jameson would join in my laughter, turning this into another lighthearted moment in our marriage. To my surprise, he sprang from the bed, his face clouded with anger, glaring at me.

"Enough is enough, right?"

I recoiled, caught off guard by his sudden outburst, puzzled as to why a simple joke seemed to set him off nowadays. Slightly irritated, I responded with sarcasm:

"Aren't you the one always making a fuss?"

Jameson's expression grew even darker, and without a word, he changed clothes and walked out, completely ignoring my questions.

Feeling emotionally drained, as if underwater, I took a deep breath and tried calling him multiple times, but he didn't answer.

Disappointment washed over me. Tomorrow, I had to take Elise to school early, around six, before heading to work. Both Jameson and I were buried under piles of work, and I really didn’t want to waste my energy on a wild goose chase. I reassured myself that he was responsible enough to take care of himself. With that in mind, I pulled out my phone and sent him a message:

[Hey Jameson, we're not kids anymore. Can we talk things out when disagreements arise?]

[I know you've been really stressed lately. My joke was thoughtless.]

[If you need to get some air, I understand. Please come back soon; it's getting cold.]

After sending these texts, I opened an app to search for remedies that might help ease his stress. Hopefully, tomorrow after work, I could stop by the pharmacy to pick up something for him to try.
