Chapter 2

Velvet's POV

"This place is quite comfortable. You'll stay here. Zavian will watch over you," he said, pulling me close one last time in a hug.

Dad's voice was steady, but mine was not.

I clung to his shirt like a child. "You're leaving already?"

"I have to," he whispered against my hair. "I have a lot of tasks to assist our Alpha in London. You know this is crucial to maintaining my rank. As Omegas, our lives would be miserable if not for my connections. You won't even be here."

He raised his face to look at Zavian. I gulped down a big lump of saliva.

"London can't wait for me. You will visit on holidays but for now he'll be your new daddy and take good care of you."

At this, I raised my eyes. We locked our gaze. I swiftly looked away, unable to maintain eye contact.

Taking care of me, I'm pretty sure, would be in bed. Our eyes betrayed us, so unfortunate, my dad couldn't tell. He trusted his best friend and I so much.

"This estate is enormous, you can always have your morning and evening stroll as you loved back in London." I nodded absentmindedly.

"The maids and servants are there to attend to your needs, they live in the left wing."

I hummed again.

"Don't worry I'll cater to all her needs, she's a pretty little girl that needs a dad to take care of her. I can be her second dad."

Alpha Zavian said it so suddenly, cutting my composure away. I flinched my face, hiding the red that was already forming on my cheeks.

How can I handle this before him and my dad?

Dad kissed my forehead and pulled away. "Study hard, Velvet. Don't make me regret sending you here." His eyes darkened, delivering a warning growl.

I nearly chuckle, knowing this wouldn't stop the fantasy cruising my mind over his best friend.

I nodded.

He patted me, then began to walk towards the door. My eyes blurred.

"Aren't you staying for lunch?" Zavian asked but dad ignored.

"You heard me already," he murmured at the door, turning to deliver a witty grin.

"I have to rush back. Do you need someone to cure your loneliness? Velvet would."

I saw the seriousness on his face brighten into something wild, erotic and sexy but he quickly suppressed it seeing me look.

Nothing to hide, man!

My dad looked back once, waved and smiled, then disappeared outside.

The front door shut. The sound echoed through the hall like a final nail sealing my fate.

My body stiffened. My chest ached.

He was gone.

I turned slowly.

And there he was.

Alpha Zavian.

A sudden vibration erupted all through my entire body.

He remained still, facing me with a cold yet spicy, dominant look. The silence between us stretched until my heart pounded so loud I was sure he could hear it.

I looked away quickly, clutching my bag tighter.

"You should rest," he said at last, his voice low and rough. "You've had a long trip."

I nodded, trying not to notice how deep his voice vibrated through me.

He started to walk out. His stride was slow yet majestic but most of all, predatory.

I followed, my eyes betraying me, sliding over the way his jeans gripped his thighs, the way his shoulders moved with so much energy.

My cheeks burned.

"Come on, let me show you around."

I followed but my eyes weren't on anything but him.

He showed me the halls, pointing at doors. "Kitchen. Training hall. Library."

I nodded at everything, though I heard nothing.

All I felt was the heat in my body every time his voice brushed my ears.

We returned back to the first hallway, my room and his, just next by the right. He placed a hand on the knob of his room.

"This is mine," he said. "You wanna explore?"

I quickly shook my head, turning my face away, face red with shyness.

"You don't have to be nervous and you can always come around to my room when you're feeling lonely in there." He pointed to my room.

Showing my nervousness would only tell him more that something is going on.

So I just swallowed. "Okay."

His eyes lingered on me. For a second too long. My breath grew too heavy.

Then he opened the door and stepped in.

"Rest."

The word rolled off his tongue like a command from his lips then he got in and shut the door before him.

I froze.

Isn't he showing me in again?

I stood out here for a minute or two before opening my door and getting into my room.

Maybe soon, he will.

I shut the door, and leaned against it.

My heart thumped wildly.

The room was large, beautiful, but I barely saw it.

All I saw was him. Even in my thoughts, all I could think of was him. And I planned to train my wolf soon to listen more to whatever he's gonna be doing in his room.

I pressed my thighs together, shame rising in my chest. My body was restless, aching, wanting.

This was madness.

But I couldn't stop.

I lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

I imagined him in his room.

Stripping off his shirt. Muscles flexing. Skin glowing.

Sliding into his sheets, half-naked, muscular, and intimidating.

My lips parted. My breath grew shallow.

I pressed the pillow to my face to muffle the sound of my whimper.

Hours passed. The house grew silent.

Still, I couldn't sleep.

Every creak in the next room made my body tense.

And then-footsteps.

Slow. Heavy.

They stopped right outside my door.

My breath caught. My body froze.

The knob turned slightly.

The door opened. Just an inch.

My heart leapt into my throat.

And there he was.

Zavian.

His tall frame filled the gap, his eyes scorching.

He stood there. Watching me.

I pulled the blanket higher, trembling.

Neither of us moved.

His gaze locked on me, burning, silent, unable to read.

"I just came to check on you, to make sure you're fine."

And then he shut the door. The latch clicked softly. Footsteps faded away.

I buried my face in the pillow, my chest heaving. My body shook with heat and fear.

He came to check on me? What if he saw me naked? What did he want?

The questions rolled through me, but no answers came.

Only the pounding of my heart and the ache spreading between my thighs.

Morning came too fast. I woke up, heading straight to the bathroom to have a warm bath. Right here, I was already thinking of how I would face him at the dinning.

In twenty minutes, I was done. I dried, then emerged to my room, pulling on a simple blouse and jeans. My hands shook as I brushed my hair.

When I opened the door, he was already there.

Leaning against the wall.

Waiting.

His grey eyes swept over me slowly, scanning every inch.

My breath hitched. Does he see me as that little daughter of his best friend then or as a woman?

"Are you ready?" he asked. His voice rumbled deep, curling low in my belly.

"Ready for?" I muttered.

"To have some breakfast. I've already fixed up something for us to eat."

Awwww.

I was feeling romantic already.

I wanted to react with a cute moan but my body was too aware of him beside me.

"Yes, Alpha." I nodded.

"Call me Zavian."

My blood heated. Call him Zavian?

A quick thought came to mind.

"I'll call you daddy."

I watched as his lips erupted into a mischievous grin.

Goshhhh.

We knew what we were doing. He moved and I followed closely behind. I wanted to touch him.
