Chapter 2

Carissa made potato cream soup at noon.

I didn't taste a single bite.

As I was about to leave, Carissa filled a big bowl of soup and pushed it in front of me, and said, "Drink it up."

I was disgusted by her commanding tone, "I am the employer, how can you control me?"

Carissa's face stiffened, her facial muscles tightened, which was a bit intimidating.

Yahir, who was silently eating beside me, quickly stood up and stopped me, "Jolie, drink the soup; it's good for the child."

"But you know I don't like to eat potatoes."

I was picky; Yahir not only knew but also indulged me.

But today, he looked at Carissa with a negotiating look.

"Why are you looking at me? If she doesn't drink, can't you find a solution?" Carissa's plump palm slapped heavily on the dining table.

Yahir nodded quickly as if he had been frightened.

He was very chauvinistic when we were dating.

But in front of Carissa, he was timid.

I angrily said, "Are you so afraid of her? Is she your mother?"

Yahir immediately frowned, "You are too delicate. The child is important; drink it."

I wouldn't drink.

Yahir usually spoiled me.

As long as I refused, he would not persist.

I turned around to leave from the other side.

"Waste, can't even handle a woman," Carissa grabbed my hand and pulled me back into the chair.

"What do you want to do?" I was struggling.

Yahir hurried came to me.

I thought he was here to pull Carissa away.

But he held my hands tightly and let Carissa pour the soup into my mouth.

I was stubborn and refused to drink, so the soup spilled all over me.

Carissa dropped the bowl and gritted her teeth at me, saying, "For the next eight months, you better not make me angry."

Covered in soup, I looked at Yahir as if he were a stranger.

Why did he favor that old woman?

Yahir looked at Carissa, who had already gone to the kitchen, and then gently persuaded me with a warm face, "Carissa just has a bad temper, but she knows how to take care of pregnant women. For the sake of us having a healthy baby, listen to her, and I will accompany you, okay?"

"I don't like her. Let's change the nanny."

Like listening to shocking and vulgar words, Yahir hurriedly said, "Take good care of yourself and don't think too much."

The doubts in my heart grew stronger.

At night, Yahir went to bed with me early.

Apart from those two things, he treated me extremely well.

In the middle of the night, a nightmare woke me up.

Yahir didn't lay beside me.

I sat up in shock, put on a coat, and went out based on my intuition.
