Chapter 1

At our first anniversary celebration, my wife publicly announced that she was divorcing me to marry her true love.

My past mission targets coldly watched me, thinking I would cause a ruckus and trouble Ivan Lowe like I always had.

However, I merely walked over to a nearby lake and jumped into it.

Unbeknownst to them, Serena Gale was my very last mission target. If I failed, I was supposed to go home.

So, why did they only begin to regret their choices after I finally died?

Extermination Will Initiate Soon

Everyone cheered as Serena Gale and Ivan Lowe kissed passionately.

The attendees were all whispering, shooting me looks of pity, disdain, and sympathy.

But my former targets only stared at me with wary, guarded eyes, as if afraid I would rush forward and punch Ivan.

A mocking sneer tugged at my lips.

26 years ago, I came into this world after being hit by a car. A system appeared to me, telling me that I could return to my world in perfect health if I won over the heart of a female lead in this world.

For years, I did my best to win over and please the targets chosen for me.

I was told multiple times that I had nearly won over my targets, but then Ivan appeared.

The women could hear his thoughts, so they believed him without question. Convinced I was a scheming villain, their Relationship Values plummeted.

Now, the very last target I was trying to win over chose to divorce me in order to be with Ivan.

For a moment, my heart hurt as if it had been stabbed. Then even that pain faded into numbness.

'Mission failed. Extermination will initiate soon.'

I was not surprised to hear the notification from the system.

As waves of cheers and congratulations echoed through the air, I walked over to the lake hidden in the back garden. Then, without hesitation, I jumped.

I would rather end my life than wait to die in agony as the system wipes me out.

Icy water surrounded me, rushing into my nose. My mind drifted, and it felt like I could see my original parents.

'I'm sorry, Mom, Dad. I won't be able to take care of you in your old age…'

Just before my consciousness fully faded away, a hand abruptly dragged me out of the lake.

Coughing violently, I vomited up the water trapped in my throat. Eventually, I was able to look at the person who pulled me out.

It was Laura, my mother in this world, and my first target to win over.

Blazing with fury, she slapped me across the face.

"Leon Sawyer, is Ivan's happiness that upsetting to you? He finally found his happy ending, and you want to die! Are you trying to ruin him by causing a scandal?"

My cheeks burned with pain. My vision swam.

"I thought scum like you didn't even know shame."

Being humiliated by my own mother left my face deathly pale, and pain spread through me.

She used to love me very much, calling me her lucky charm.

When I was born, my mother's company went bust. I did not have any points back then, so I used ten years of my original life to help her get back on her feet.

When I turned sixteen, the system stated her Relationship Value was at 95%.

Just when I thought victory was within reach, Ivan appeared.

With a new son, my mother forgot all about me. She never once looked at me after that.

I tried crying and throwing tantrums, but nothing worked.

In just one brief month, Ivan cleared away all the progress I had made in sixteen years.

Right now, I don't even care about her accusations and interrogation. I merely closed my eyes and waited for the system to kill me.

'Leon, the Relationship Value of the target before you is rising. Would you like to continue your mission?'

I was stunned to hear the system say that, and I stared at my mother with bewildered eyes.

Despite that, I still shook my head. "No."

Loving someone was far too exhausting. Besides, I had already spent twenty-six years loving four women with everything I had.

"System, kill me. I'm exhausted. I only want to sleep."

I closed my eyes and waited, but the electric shock I was expecting never came. Instead, the system gave me a new notification.

'This body will die in three days, so you may return to your original world then.'
