Chapter 1

My company hosts an appreciation gala to thank long-time clients.

I go to the company's cold storage to retrieve the batch of wine just flown in from overseas when a stream of comments suddenly appears before my eyes.

"That was close! She almost caught Daisy covered in red wine and looking all seductive. Good thing Tristan reacted fast and hid her in the freezer."

"Can Scarlett just leave already? Look how cold Daisy and Tristan are. They are shivering. What if they catch a cold?"

I pause mid-step, my gaze landing on the freezer behind me.

Red wine is dripping out, and a piece of fabric is caught in the door. On it, I see the motif I personally sew onto my fiancé's clothes.

Just then, the comments appear again.

"Tristan plays it cool, claiming he is all about platonic love and staying chaste for Daisy. What a touching romance!"

I smirked coldly. The platonic act is fake. The truth is he's cheating on me.

Without a word, I turn around and toss the clothes they leave on the floor into the trash. Then, I lock the cold storage door and call the boss, who is in the middle of giving a speech.

I exclaim over the phone, "A thief broke into the company! I locked them in the cold storage. Please bring some men and come over quickly!"

After I hung up, the comment section erupted in an uproar.

"Holy crap! Did the sidekick, Scarlett Thorne, lose her mind? Who is she calling a thief?"

"Ha! She has no idea that the director, David Beckett, is the matchmaker who brought the leads today. Even if everyone shows up, he'll help smooth things over."

I frowned and pulled out my phone. Just as I hit the send button, David arrived, leading a group of directors.

My uncle, John Marshall, looked grim. "I'd like to see who dares to commit theft in broad daylight. This is outrageous!"

David quickly grabbed his arm and said, "Let's not rush in. The thief is locked inside and not going anywhere, but we have major clients out there. If this turns into a scene, the clients will think we have poor supervision, and it'll ruin our reputation.

"Let's calm the clients first. We'll deal with this after the gala and swap out the red wine for now."

The others nodded in agreement.

I stepped forward and chimed in in a professionally concerned voice, "I think you're wrong, David. If we solve this crisis the moment it arises, people will praise our emergency response.

"And the fact that someone managed to sneak into the cold storage unnoticed proves that we have spies within the internal management of the company. For all we know, this could be a spy sent by our competitors to poach our clients!

"I've called the police, and they'll be here soon. I suggest we start a live stream and draw attention from the internet for widespread publicity."

John thoughtfully nodded. "She's right. This client appreciation gala has made many of our rivals jealous. There are plenty of them looking to take our resources, and someone must have tried underhanded tactics.

"If we handle this crisis well, it serves as a warning to the rest of the companies thinking of messing with us!"

The others murmured in agreement that it was a solid idea.

David looked stunned and stubbornly tried to stop us. "But what if it backfires? Maybe we should just drop the idea…"

I shot him a cold look and snapped, "David, you're trying awfully hard to stop us. Are you the spy planted in our company?"

Suddenly, every eye in the room fixed on him.

Caught under the weight of such a serious accusation, David dared not say another word and frantically waved his hands.

When I pulled out my phone and set up the live stream, the comment section went into a frenzy.

"Calling the cops is one thing, but she's even starting a live stream! What are the male lead, Tristan, and the female lead, Daisy, supposed to do? They're not even wearing anything!"

"It's freezing in there. They're going to freeze to death!"

"Don't panic. If they exercise more by doing it in the freezer and create heat with friction, they can surely hold out until everyone leaves!"

I finished setting up the live stream, and reading the comments made my stomach churn.

Still, the viewers relentlessly broadcast.

"Tristan and Daisy are kissing again; that's so sweet that I'm dying! Only the soft, dainty Daisy is a match for Tristan."
