Changing My Fate

Maya stood up weakly, pretending to stop the guy who threw the bag. “Don’t say that. Be careful, or he’ll call the cops again and get you arrested too. I can handle it, but Wayne got hurt because of me. I feel terrible.”

She reached out with shaking fingers to touch the bruising at the corner of Wayne’s mouth. She didn’t even glance at the three bloody scratch marks she had left on my face.

Then, she kept going, “A few days ago, when Dylan bought that phone, I heard him say it was a fake and that the seller refused to take it back. Now, he’s finally found a chance to make Wayne pay for a brand-new original one.”

The crowd erupted instantly. They circled me, shouting that I should apologize to the two of them. Someone even threw a cup of coffee straight at my head.

At that moment, the lecturer walked in and bellowed, “What’s going on here? Sit down! Class is starting!”

Everyone hurried back to their seats. I remained standing, looking straight at the lecturer.

“Sir, I’m not attending this class anymore. I’m dropping out.”

Under everyone’s shocked gazes, I turned and walked out of the hall.

My parents supported me completely. They immediately started the paperwork for me to study abroad.

Three days later, I received the compensation from Wayne’s father. The man even called to apologize personally.

I couldn’t help but sigh. Every parent loves their child, but sometimes, those children really don’t deserve it.

Right after I hung up, a new call from Maya popped up. The moment I answered, her pitiful voice came through.

“So you really dropped out? I was just a little harsh with my words. Did you really take it that seriously? Are you afraid I’m still mad at you? I’ve agreed to be your girlfriend, didn’t I? Anyway… the skincare set you bought me last time is almost used up. Buy me another one, and I’ll forgive you.”

Her shamelessness honestly made my stomach turn.

I spoke coldly into the phone. “You’re the one who said you wanted to be my girlfriend. I never said I wanted you. And from this moment on, we have nothing to do with each other—not even as collegemates. Don’t contact me again.”

After that, I hung up and blocked her number.

However, I never expected that they would dare to try to take away the dog I’d raised for years and sell it. Fortunately, I discovered their plan in time and stopped them.

Fine. If that was how they want it, I’d drag them all into hell.

Thanks to Maya's slander, dozens of students texted me to mock me, but I ignored all of them. That was until the third night, during the college talent showcase.

When Maya and Wayne were performing some cheesy love duet on stage, I stormed on and snatched the microphone from their hands.

Facing the entire student body and the college administrators, I said, “I’m reporting Maya Summers by name. She wasn’t working as a waitress at that bar; she was selling herself. And I’m also reporting Wayne Grey for gambling and for selling an animal.”
