Chapter 1

A newly-arrived colleague became the Company Belle in just a few days, getting along well with all the men.

Clara Diaz had fair skin and rosy cheeks. Even without any makeup, she out-shadowed countless women in the world. No one could tell that she was 36 years old this year.

However, I always found her face familiar for some reason.

After getting off work, I sat in the passenger seat of my husband's car and casually talked to him about Clara. I said, "Do you have a female junior named Clara?"

"Back then, she used to have a crush on you."

Gavin's face changed unpredictably as he drove and said, "I don't remember it."

At this moment, a WhatsApp message notification rang out on his cell phone.

Naturally, I unlocked the cell phone and checked the message for him.

When it came to cell phones, we had never been on guard against each other.

So, I had never been interested in Gavin's cell phone.

Unexpectedly, I saw something different this time.

"Clara sent you a WhatsApp message."

"She said..."

I looked at him with a bit of scrutiny, reading out the content of the WhatsApp messages word by word. [Thank you, senior, for arranging work for me. I will treat you to a meal another day.]

Hearing that I was in a bad mood, Gavin took away the cell phone, turned it off, and said nothing.

I looked at him indifferently, waiting for an explanation from him.

Just now, he said he didn't remember Clara. As a result, Clara became my colleague. It was arranged by Gavin himself!

Clara used to pursue Gavin crazily, even declaring that she would remain single for Gavin. She would wait for him until he broke up.

Unfortunately...

Gavin proposed to me right after he graduated. Now, our daughter studied in middle school.

At an intersection, Gavin said, "If it weren't for her sending me a WhatsApp message, I would have forgotten about her, someone insignificant."

Gavin's face was too pale. Clara was an urban woman, with a good family background, education, and good looks. I wondered how she ended up working in a small town and needing someone to arrange a job for her.

"Why did she come to the countryside? She has been doing well in a big city."

Gavin raised his hand and gently rubbed my black hair into a bunch. He was patient and gentle. Hearing his gentle voice, I was less angry. He said, "Don't worry. There is nothing between her and me."

"I have you and our daughter. For me, this is the greatest happiness in life."

"I don't care why she came here. It was just a petty favor that I did conveniently."

"We've been married for more than ten years. How come you still get jealous like a little girl? Do you want me to deal with you tonight?"

I looked away hurriedly and happened to see the green light. I stuttered, "It is the green light!"

Gavin was handsome and family-oriented. After more than ten years of marriage, I couldn't help but feel shy when he made jokes about a couple.

The tender love of Gavin made me temporarily forget the sense of crisis brought by Clara.

On the second day, I decided to inquire why Clara came to a small town in a roundabout way.

As soon as I entered the company, my best friend pulled me into the corridor.

"Libby! Guess what breaking gossip I got?"

Eileen Solomon was Gavin's cousin. She was known in our company as someone noisy and a gossip digger.

No matter who it was and what it was, everything would be revealed once it appeared in her sight.

"The little vixen who just joined our company is from a big city. Her parents are both teachers!"

Suppressing the excitement in my heart, I tentatively asked, "Clara?"

Eileen nodded vigorously and said, "Do you know why she is here?"
