Broken Promises, Broken Hearts
Chapter 4
At the hospital entrance, Karen had a bandage wrapped around her forehead.
Her eyes were closed, and she leaned quietly against the bed, her face pale as paper.
A nurse was administering her an IV while Aiden paced anxiously at the door.
She had been distracted on her way to the hospital after finding out Aiden had fired her.
That was why she ended up in a car accident.
"How is she?" Aiden asked the doctor, glancing into the room at Karen.
The doctor responded, "It's not too serious. She just hit her head. There might be a mild concussion."
"Aiden..." Karen's voice was weak as she slowly opened her eyes at the sound of his voice.
"I'm fine. Don't worry about me. It was my fault for not paying attention to the road."
She grabbed the bed's railing and struggled to sit up.
"Don't move."
Aiden quickly strode over to her and gently supported her back.
