Chapter 6

Avelyn believed in Kevin and I could understand why. She’d never met any of us before and he had a way with words, a talent for fooling women.

In some ways, I even felt for her. I could see myself in her, making the same mistakes I once did.

Back then, my friends had tried to warn me, telling me Kevin wasn’t grounded or reliable. But I ignored them, falling for his charm and empty promises.

Now, Avelyn was caught in the same web.

Kevin gave me a smug look and said, “I told you, making a scene won’t change anything. You’re only embarrassing yourselves. The more people know you’re hanging onto me, the less chance you’ll have with anyone else. I’ve got this all on video,” Kevin sneered. “I’ll send it to your families so they can see just how shameless you all are.”

I’d come here prepared, ready to face whatever fallout might come from this. I wasn’t worried about who would see it.

Besides, Kevin hadn’t won yet and I certainly hadn’t lost.

I said, “Kevin, you were the one who called us. It’s only been a few days. Don’t tell me you’ve already forgotten?”

Kevin gave a cold laugh. “A woman like you, spouting lies as soon as you open your mouth. Who would believe anything you say? Do you even have proof?”

That was exactly what I’d been waiting for.

In the past, when I’d told him I wanted to break up, he’d demanded proof. When Lisa accused him of taking her savings, he demanded proof again.

Back then, we had nothing to back up our claims, leaving us powerless. But now, when he asked for proof, I finally had it.

I walked over to Avelyn and said, “Do you mind if I borrow the mic? I want to make sure everyone hears this proof clearly.”

Seeing how confident I was, Kevin started to panic.

“What are you trying to do?” he asked, a hint of fear in his voice.

I smiled. “Didn’t you want proof? I’ll give it to you now. Let everyone hear it.”

Desperate, Kevin quickly turned to Avelyn. “Honey, don’t believe her.”

I looked at Avelyn and said, “I don’t know what sweet lies he’s told you, but don’t you want to know the kind of person he really is?”

After a moment of hesitation, Avelyn handed me the microphone. But before I could react, Kevin rushed forward and kicked me hard in the stomach.

The pain made me break out in cold sweat.

Kevin yelled in anger, “Bitch, get out! Where are the guards? Throw this bitch out!”

Lisa and the others quickly gathered around me.

At that moment, Kevin’s mother stepped forward, standing tall and looking down at me. “Your name is Ivory, right? I’ve heard Kevin mention you. After you broke up with him, you were fired from your company. You’ve got no skills and now you’re blaming my son?”

She continued, “I know you’ve been clinging to him for a long time. Women like you, with no shame, are a dime a dozen. My son is exceptional and you’re not worthy of him. That’s your own problem.”

She looked at me with disgust and sneered, "A woman like you will never find a man in this life."

She tore me apart with her words.

The relatives and friends around us joined in, mocking me.

“How can a woman be this shameless?”

“It’s just a breakup and yet she’s causing a scene at a wedding?”

“She’s just upset because her ex found someone better and now she’s trying to destroy his happiness.”

“Luckily, I’ve never had to deal with a woman like her.”

“Hurry, take a picture of her and post it online, let everyone see what a disgusting person she really is.”
