Chapter 2

I contacted a technician to help me change the light bulb.

It turned out that I didn't need Kayne's help.

As soon as I saw the technician off, I received a call from my mentor.

"Olivia, how do you consider what I told you last time? You've graduated for several years, but I still remember you. I'm old now, and I know maybe you don't want to contact me. But this opportunity is rare, and I want to talk to you again. If you miss such a good opportunity, I will feel sorry for you."

I studied artificial intelligence in college, and my mentors valued me very much.

Following him, I won many awards in his projects, and he always thought that I would work in a related industry after graduation.

But unexpectedly, I didn’t.

Kayne thought it was boring to deal with robots all day, so I gave up what I learned in college for him.

I never did anything that Kayne didn't like, just to make him happy.

However, no matter how much I tried to please him, he was still not satisfied with me.

"Olivia, think about it carefully. Your senior is in charge of this project. I have learned about it. It is a very mature idea, and it will have a very high market share in the future. If you are willing, you will achieve good results in the future."

My mentor continued to persuade me, fearing that I would give up again.

But now I had figured it out.

"Sir, I see. I am willing to give it a try. Thank you very much."

My mentor was very happy and said, "I will give you his contact information. Contact him."

I used to treat Kayne as the most important person in my world, and I lived my life with almost no self.

Fortunately, it was not too late to wake up now.

Now that I had the opportunity, I should find myself again.

I contacted the project leader, and he quickly sent me the project information.

He asked me to read it as quickly as possible.

The project laboratory might be relocated, and he had been looking for a new address.

The old laboratory was still in use, so he asked me to familiarize myself with the experimental equipment when I had free time.

Kayne finally came back.

It was quite late at night, and I was reading the documents, so I didn't notice the sound of the door opening.

"Why didn't you answer the phone? I thought you weren't home." He pushed the door open.

I came back to my senses. "I didn't hear it. Maybe it's muted."

It was my habit. I didn’t like to be interrupted by the ringing of bells when studying.

But after I met Fayne, I changed this habit for him, for fear that he would contact me suddenly.

"Did you mute it the whole night?"

He came over with anger.
