Kevin and the gang never liked me.

I still remembered the first thing Kevin said when Julian and I started dating.

"To say you have bad taste is an understatement man. How can she compare to Yvon?"

During dinner afterwards, the mocking words were piling up.

"You do look like the typical pick me."

"Your dress is so similar to Yvon's. Trying to learn from the best huh?"

"I'm just not good with words. Don't take it to heart."

Julian glared at him several times, but he pretended not to see it.

Finally, Julian's face darkened, and he pulled Kevin out of the room.

He warned in a low voice, "Watch your words, she's my girlfriend!"

I could hear Kevin's casual tone from inside.

"Your girlfriend? That woman? Only Yvon's your true match."

I tried hard to please his friends.

But in return they just turned more dismissive of me.

I once heard them talking behind Julian's back.
