For the sake of his career, my boyfriend of three years served me up to his boss.

In a five-star hotel,

I was filled with regret. Before yesterday, Caden Chase had actually asked me once to spend the night with Julian Alastair.

He said that if I just spent one night with Julian Alastair, he could secure the position of regional head for the company's Centralis Sphere project.

I refused him flat out, thinking he was just saying crazy things because of work stress.

But then he started bringing it up frequently, which disgusted me. Still, thinking of our long history, I tried to talk some sense into him.

When Caden Chase saw how adamant I was, he dropped the subject. I thought he'd given up on the idea, but I never expected this was what he had in store for me.

He drugged me on the night he was supposed to propose, delivering me right into Julian Alastair's bed.

As my senses returned, I grabbed my clothes from the floor and got ready to leave, but the man behind me suddenly stirred.

"Leaving just like that? Aren't you going to make any demands?"

I turned to look at him, feeling a wave of disgust. Blinded by fury, I slapped him without thinking.

"You bastard! This is rape! I can report you!"

Hearing this, he just smirked and tossed his phone in front of me.

It was playing a video of Caden Chase drugging me and bringing me to his room.

"You can report me. The choice is yours."

I felt completely helpless. This man in front of me knew everything about me, yet I had no idea what his true motives were.

He was Julian Alastair, both my and Caden Chase's boss. He might have been parachuted into his position thanks to connections, but he was incredibly capable.

Whenever Caden Chase talked about him, there was always an unconscious hint of envy in his voice.

What Caden Chase didn't know, however, was that Julian Alastair had been pestering me behind his back.

Julian Alastair had wanted to make a bet with me about human nature. I'd wanted nothing to do with him, but Caden Chase kept disappointing me, time and time again.

"You won. You said Caden Chase would betray me, and he did. Can I go now?"

That was the bet between Julian Alastair and me. I bet that Caden Chase wasn't so depraved. He bet that Caden Chase would throw our relationship away without a second thought.

Now, I had lost. Utterly and completely. Leaving was the only way to preserve what little dignity I had left.

"You're just going to leave like that? Can you accept this?"

'Of course I couldn't accept it. But what could I do? After all, I was the one indebted to Caden Chase.'

"This has nothing to do with you. I hope we never see each other again!"

With that, I turned and left the room. Once out of the hotel, I headed straight home.

I sat in the bathtub, letting the warm water submerge my body, but my mind was in chaos.

After a while, Caden Chase started knocking on my door. I refused to open it, so he started shouting from the hallway, "Baby, I know you hate me, but I had no other choice! I know you'll understand, right?"
