Chapter 3

Kim's POV

My hand flew to my chest, gripping tightly as my heart drummed against my ribs. It was racing too fast, like it was trying to jump out of me.

My blood pressure spiked as I stood there, staring at them.

My handmaid, the one who was supposed to serve and stand by me was there, half-naked, in my mate’s room.

“Don… I can’t believe you,” I breathed, my voice barely holding together.

He didn’t look ashamed or guilty. He just sighed.

Slowly, he reached for his trousers and pulled them up around his waist, completely unbothered.

“Have you lost it, Kim?” he said, walking toward me. “Don’t just barge in here. This is my private room.”

I stared at him, disbelief filling my chest. “But I was looking for you…”

“Gosh, you can’t respect privacy, can you?”

My lips parted slightly.

“I can’t believe you’d say that,” I whispered, my voice trembling. “We’re mated. I have every right to be here.”

“Oh, please, Kim,” he scoffed.

“This whole thing is a sham,” he continued. “And didn’t I tell you? You are not the Luna of this pack. You never will be.”

“I mean, you’ve been downgraded to nothing but a lowly commoner,” he added. “So don’t ever do something like this again.”

I didn’t respond. I couldn’t even speak. I just stood there, staring at him, then slowly shifted my gaze to Susan.

She had wrapped the blanket around her chest now, her expression completely blank.

Gosh, I didn’t want to cry. I had cried so much already, because of him.

But the emotions still came, bubbling uncontrollably inside me, threatening to spill over. “Don…” my voice broke. “We just lost our baby… and you’re cheating on me?”

He stepped closer, his expression hard. “No,” he said flatly. “You lost your baby. Not mine.”

My breath hitched.

“And the moment you lost that baby,” he continued coldly, “you lost everything else.”

My vision blurred.

“You lost your right to be respected in this pack. The right to be served. The right to be my mate. The right to be called Luna. Even the right to be standing here right now,” he finished.

Silence rang in my ears.

“Don…” I sniffed, my voice shaking uncontrollably now. I felt lightheaded, like I couldn’t breathe properly. “I know you never really cared about me, but please… just stay with me for a while. Help me heal from this. I need—”

“Don’t get it twisted,” he cut me off sharply, already reaching for his shirt and pulling it on. “Whatever we had is over. Get that.”

Before I could say something else, his hand reached out, grabbing my wrist tightly.

“Don, what are you doing?” I gasped as he yanked me forward.

My body stumbled after him, too weak to keep up. “Don, you’re hurting me!” I cried, but he didn’t stop.

He didn’t even look back.

He dragged me out of the room, down the hallway, his grip like metal around my wrist. My feet struggled to keep up, my vision spinning.

Then suddenly, I lost my balance. My body slammed hard against the floor. Pain spread through my entire body.

He stopped, turned, and grabbed me again. “Get up,” he snapped.

I groaned, barely able to move, but he didn’t care. He pulled me again, forcing me forward.

“Don, stop… please—”

The hallway blurred as he dragged me along. I could feel eyes on me.

Before I could steady myself, he pushed me harshly. I hit the ground, my knee scraping painfully against the rough surface. A sharp sting shot up my leg, but it paled in comparison to the ache in my chest.

My hair fell over my face as I struggled to breathe. Slowly, I lifted my head, pushing my hair aside to look at him.

“Don… what are you doing?” I cried, my voice breaking.

“You see this spot you’re on?” he said coldly. “This is where you belong. And I never want to see your face here again.”

My heart dropped.

I shook my head in disbelief. “Don… what are you doing? Are you throwing me out?”

“Yes, Kimberly,” he replied without hesitation. “I’m throwing you out.”

The words echoed in my ears.

“This is my mansion,” he continued. “It’s meant for me, the Luna, the Beta, and only important people in this pack. Now that you’re a lowly commoner, you have no right to be here.”

He looked at me coldly.

“And I don’t want to hire another maid either,” he added casually. “So get out.”

My body trembled as I forced myself up, my legs weak beneath me. I took a few shaky steps toward him, my hands slightly raised to reach him.

“Don, please… reconsider,” I begged. “We’ve been together for over a year. You can’t just throw me away.”

“Yes,” he said flatly. “And it’s been pitiful.”

He pushed me again, and I fell back to the ground with a cry.

“Fuck you, Kim,” he snapped. “Get out of my life.”

And just like that, he turned his back on me. He paused at the door, glancing at the guards.

“If she gets past these doors, I’m having both your heads.”

The guards slammed their rods against the ground. “Understood, Alpha.”

Then the doors shut.

I was completely alone.

The world blurred as tears poured down my face. My body shook as I cried, my hands clutching the ground beneath me. What do I do? Where do I go?

After about an hour, the doors opened again.

My heart skipped. Hope flickered weakly inside me as I lifted my head.

“Don?—”

But the word died in my throat. It wasn’t him. Two guards stepped out first, dressed in rich, imperial clothing.

And then… a man stepped out.

He was tall, with dark hair and hazel eyes that seemed to see through everything.

His skin was smooth, his presence overwhelming, like the air itself shifted around him. Power radiated from him so strongly it made my chest tighten.

The Alpha King. The Supreme Alpha.

Behind him, a maid followed, holding his outer coat. “Alpha, may I place this in the carriage?” she asked respectfully.

He turned slightly. “Yes.”

She bowed and hurried off.

Then, he paused and turned toward me. My entire body flinched. Panic flowed through me as I quickly lowered my head. It was disrespectful not to acknowledge him.

No matter what I was now. No matter how broken I felt, I forced myself to my knees despite the pain, bowing my head low.

“Greetings…” I sniffed, my voice trembling. “Supreme Alpha.”

There was silence for a few seconds.

“Raise your head.” His voice echoed.

My heart pounded violently as I slowly lifted my gaze. His sharp, unreadable eyes were on me.

“Who are you?” he asked.

My lips parted, but no words came out. Everything inside me felt tangled.

“Can’t you speak?” he asked, his voice deep.

“I…” I sniffed, forcing the words out. “I’m Kimberly.”

His gaze didn’t leave mine. “What are you doing out here?”

I froze. What was I supposed to say? That I had just been thrown out like trash? That I had nowhere to go?

His eyes narrowed slightly, studying me. “Aren’t you the Luna of this pack?”

My breath hitched. He remembered me? The last time I had seen him was when Don and I had our mating ceremony.

I never thought he would remember someone like me.

He turned his gaze to the guards. They immediately lowered their heads.

“What’s going on?” he asked.

One of them stepped forward, bowing deeply. “She’s been thrown out of the mansion, Supreme Alpha. Alpha Don rejected her.”

“I see,” he said.

Then his attention returned to me.

And this time, he stepped closer, closing the distance between us. “Get up.”

My head lifted slightly, confusion written across my face.

His gaze darkened. “I don’t like repeating myself.”

Then he turned away. “You’re coming with me.”
