Chapter 3

Three days into my newfound freedom, my encrypted werewolf messenger chimed with an incoming message. The sender ID made my blood run cold: Neo Dixon.

I almost deleted it without reading, but something made me pause. Sage stirred uneasily in my mind as I opened the message thread.

The first image loaded slowly, pixel by pixel, and when I realized what I was looking at, my hands began to shake. It was me, in my old bedroom at the pack house, changing clothes after a shower. The angle suggested it had been taken through the partially open bathroom door—a door I'd always thought provided privacy.

More images followed in rapid succession. Me in a towel. Me sleeping in what I'd thought was the safety of my own room. Me in moments of vulnerability I'd never consented to share with anyone.

*The bastards had been watching me. Planning this.*

Neo's message appeared below the photos, each word dripping with malicious satisfaction:

*Surprised, babe? Rachel and I have been collecting these for months. Insurance, you might say. Here's the deal: restore our monthly payments, transfer the pack house deed to Rachel like you should have done, and add another 200K for the trouble you've caused. Or these photos get shared with every unmated Alpha in a fifty-mile radius. Wonder how many potential mates will want damaged goods?*

My wolf snarled, pacing frantically in my mind. The violation felt like ice water in my veins, but underneath the shock, something else was building—a rage so pure and cold it felt like stepping into winter air.

Another message popped up, this one from Rachel:

*Shelby, I really didn't want it to come to this, but you forced our hand. You've always been jealous of me, and now you're trying to destroy my future out of spite. This is your chance to do the right thing for once. Transfer everything to me—I'm the real daughter, the future Luna. You're just the hired help who got too big for her britches. Fix this, or everyone will see exactly what kind of desperate, pathetic woman you really are.*

I stared at the messages for a long moment, my hands steady now, my mind clicking through possibilities with mechanical precision. They thought they'd cornered me. They thought shame and fear would drive me back into submission.

They were about to learn how wrong they were.

I screenshot every message, every photo, every threat. Then I did something that would have terrified the old Shelby—the one who lived in fear of disappointing her family, of being cast out, of being alone.

I opened the pack's mind-link network.

It was 6 AM—prime time for the morning pack run. Half the Silver Moon Pack would be online, checking territory updates and coordinating patrol schedules. Perfect.

I crafted my message carefully, attaching the screenshots of Neo and Rachel's blackmail attempt:

*Pack members, I need to share something that affects our community's safety and honor. As you can see from these messages, a rogue named Neo Dixon and Rachel Robinson have been secretly photographing pack members without consent and are now using these images for extortion. This rogue has infiltrated our pack through deception and is now threatening pack members with humiliation tactics. I'm sharing this not for sympathy, but because if they're willing to do this to me, no one in our pack is safe from their schemes. Please be aware of this threat to our community.*

I hit send and watched the message propagate through the network like wildfire.

The response was immediate and overwhelming. Within minutes, my private messages exploded with incoming communications:

*Holy shit, Shelby. I always knew something was off about that guy.* - Beta Marcus from patrol division

*This is disgusting. How dare they violate your privacy like this?* - Gamma Sarah from the warrior unit

*Wait, Rachel's involved in this? Her own sister?* - Delta Jennifer from the medical team

*That rogue needs to be dealt with. Pack law doesn't tolerate this kind of behavior.* - Elder Thomas from the council

More messages flooded in, each one expressing outrage at the blackmail attempt. Pack members who'd barely spoken to me before were offering support, resources, even their own security services. The very community I'd feared would judge me was instead rallying to my defense.

My phone rang—Alpha Robinson, probably in full damage control mode. I let it go to voicemail.

Another call—Neo this time. I answered on the first ring.

"You fucking bitch!" His voice was raw with panic. "What did you do?"

"I shared your messages with people who needed to see them," I said calmly. "Funny how different your blackmail looks when it's not happening in the shadows."

"You've destroyed everything! Rachel's reputation, my standing in the pack—"

"You destroyed that yourself the moment you decided to threaten me." My voice was ice-cold, each word precisely delivered. "Did you really think I'd cower and submit? Did you think I was still that pathetic woman who'd do anything to keep the peace?"

The line went quiet except for his ragged breathing.

"This isn't over," he finally snarled.

"Oh, but it is," I replied, and hung up.

Sage purred with satisfaction in my mind as more supportive messages continued to pour in through the pack network. For the first time in my life, I wasn't fighting this battle alone.
