Before My Body Is Cold
Chapter 3
: The White Shirt
3
Linnet Ashwood arrived empty-handed.
The next morning, I watched as she woke up and ran her long, slender fingers through my closet.
Finally, her fingers settled on one of Simon Sutton's loose-fitting white shirts.
A sudden smile spread across Linnet Ashwood's face.
After putting on the shirt, she hopped happily and ran to the living room.
"Simon Sutton!"
'She's so screwed,' I thought.
Simon Sutton owned a lot of white shirts, many of them nearly identical in style, which was something I never understood.
On the rare occasion I playfully asked to wear one, Simon would just placidly take the shirt from my hands.
"You know I don't like other people touching them. If you like it, go buy one for yourself."
ZenPay transfer received: $30.
All I could do was stare at the thirty dollars and try to console myself.
But now, Simon was... stunned?
"Do you remember how I told you my favorite thing was seeing you in a white shirt?"
Linnet Ashwood was pure and cute, and the loose white shirt on her created that popular, innocently alluring look.
'I get it now. Simon was completely mesmerized.'
As Simon Sutton watched Linnet playfully twirl, his brow smoothed and his eyes curved into a smile.
No wonder he was so obsessed with his white shirts.
"You're barely wearing anything. Be careful you don't catch a cold."
Linnet just pouted, and Simon immediately scurried back to the bedroom to get her a pair of socks and some pants.
I'm not sure how long I'd been floating there, but Linnet Ashwood suddenly brought me up.
"Where's Yulia Sutton? She won't be angry that you brought me home, will she?"
Simon Sutton froze in the middle of eating his porridge.
I drifted closer, not wanting to miss the slightest change in his expression.
Unfortunately, all I saw was a flash of irritation in his eyes.
"She went out a couple of days ago. She probably went back to her family's place."
"Just make yourself at home. She won't be angry."
Linnet was smart. How could she not see that something was off?
She casually pushed the dumpling filling she didn't like into Simon Sutton's bowl.
"That's true. Yulia Sutton has always been so understanding. Why would she ever get angry?"
