Chapter 1

After ten years of marriage and struggling with infertility, I finally got pregnant with my husband's child when I turned thirty.

When I told my husband, Jake Austin, the news, he looked at me coldly and asked, "Whose child is it?"

We ended up having a huge fight. To spite me, he took a mistress, Reese Aniston.

I chose to turn a blind eye to it until I was six months pregnant. I underwent an amniocentesis and had a paternity test done, which I sent to my husband.

I texted: [The baby is yours. I'll head to the hospital for an abortion to give you and your mistress a chance.]

Jake threatened me over the phone, "If you dare abort the baby, I'll kill your whole family!"

That same night, he posted my photo on social media with the caption: [Thank you for giving me a child. I will cherish you both with my life!]

To my shock, his mistress mistook me for a homewrecker. She and her friends cornered me at the mall and beat me up until I started to miscarry.

With one foot on my face, she snarled, "You filthy homewrecker, how dare you seduce my boyfriend and bear his child?

"I'll send you and the baby straight to hell!"

——

I had been married to Jake for ten years, and we had no children.

He longed for a child to continue the family line.

When I finally discovered I was pregnant at thirty and joyfully showed him the pregnancy test, I was overwhelmed with tears of happiness.

"Jake, we have a baby!"

But Jake's response was cold. "Whose child is it?"

My heart sank, and we ended up in a heated argument.

Jake stormed out, and to deliberately upset me, he found a mistress.

At six months pregnant, I had an amniocentesis and sent the paternity test results to Jake via WhatsApp with a message: [The baby is yours. Since you don't want it, I'll head to the hospital for an abortion to give you and your mistress a chance.]

Jake called, threatening me in a chilling tone, "If you dare abort the baby, I'll kill your whole family!"

That night, he updated his social media status with a message: [Thank you for giving me a child. I will spend my life loving you both.]

Unexpectedly, this post led his mistress to believe I was the other woman.

Reese, a female streamer I frequently saw online, posted a photo of her and Jake together during a live stream.

I always quietly liked her posts.

Tonight, during another live stream, Reese appeared with red eyes, as if she had just been crying, and ranted, "The worst kind of woman in this world is the homewrecker!

"Because of her, my future husband has told me never to pursue him again!"

With the audience cheering her on, the mistress declared, "We women should defend our love and reject homewreckers!

"Over the next few days, I'll find a chance to live-stream catching the homewrecker!"

I was stunned.

I thought, "Could there be a third woman besides me and the mistress?"

I called Jake, saying coldly, "Congratulations. It seems there's a third woman besides me and your mistress.

"I'll find a time to get the abortion."

Before Jake could respond, I hung up quickly.

He immediately messaged me: [I'll fly back from abroad tomorrow night. Wait at home.]

[If you touch the baby, I'll never forgive you!]

The next morning, I went alone to the downtown mall to buy some baby supplies.

Just as I was about to leave, pushing a stroller filled with baby supplies, I spotted Reese heading my way.

She was live-streaming with a group of friends, and they were all headed straight for me.

Shouting into the camera, she yelled, "Finally found this homewrecker!

"So you're the one pregnant. No wonder Jake left me!"

They swarmed towards me. Reese handed her phone to one of her friends and charged at me. Grabbing my hair, she began slapping my face with vicious blows.

"Whore!

"Did you really think I wouldn't find you?"

I was thrown to the ground, the stroller overturned, and supplies scattered everywhere. Her friends stirred up the chaos, shouting, "Beat this bitch! She stole someone else's boyfriend. She deserves to die!"

It was only then that I realized I was the "homewrecker" she'd been ranting about.

I desperately protected my belly, curling up on the ground as the mistress and her friends continued their attack.

Their cheers and taunts filled the air.

"Whore, I'm going to make sure you don't leave here alive today!"

Reese, like a furious harridan, yanked my hair and slammed my head repeatedly into the ground.

The crowd around us watched in morbid fascination.

"Homewreckers don't deserve a good ending."

"She looks so proper. How could she go and seduce someone else's boyfriend?"

Their comments spun around in my head as I lay there, helpless and overwhelmed.
