Chapter 2

"You're slandering Chase like this. If this gets out, do you know how much of an impact it will have on Chase?"

"I order you to apologize to Chase now, or else..."

Before she could finish her words, I walked out of the Lancaster family's door, leaving behind a sentence: "That's all I have to say, believe it or not!"

"Chase is not as simple as you think!"

After leaving the Lancaster family, I made a phone call.

After the call was connected, a respectful voice came from the other end: "Master!"

I hummed and asked, "Have you sorted out the inheritance Howard left me abroad?"

The person on the other end of the phone responded respectfully, "The legacy left by Mr. Lancaster is so enormous that it will probably take another month to fully sort it out!"

After giving a few instructions, I hung up the phone.

I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling mixed emotions.

I grew up in an orphanage. I had no relatives to rely on since I was a child and I had to rely on myself for everything.

A few years ago, Victoria's father was impressed by my fighting spirit and introduced Victoria to me.

Victoria initially looked down on me because I was an orphan and thought I was not worthy of her.

In order to gain her recognition, I worked hard and created huge profits for the Lancaster family's company.

In just a few years, the market value of the Lancaster family's company has skyrocketed, and a large part of the credit goes to me, the gold medal salesperson.

Mr. Lancaster passed away due to illness last year. Before his death, he made me the vice president of Lancaster Group to assist Victoria in running the company. He also held a wedding for Victoria and me.

Although Victoria was still a little reluctant, she finally nodded and agreed to Mr. Lancaster's dying wish.

I had imagined that I would live up to Mr. Lancaster's trust in me and help Victoria carry forward the Lancaster family.

As a result, after marriage, Victoria was unwilling to sleep in the same room with me, and she also recruited Chase into the company as her assistant.

This Chase is Victoria's college classmate. I heard that they were together in college, but Mr. Lancaster didn't agree with them being together.

Less than a month after Mr. Lancaster's death, Victoria brought Chase into the company.

I once argued with Victoria about this matter, and Victoria's attitude was very tough. She said to me impatiently: "Alexander, are you teaching me how to do things?"

"Remember this, you're just a son-in-law of our Lancaster family. If my father hadn't brought you into our Lancaster Group, you might just be a factory worker screwing screws!"

"There's nothing innocent between Chase and me. It's not as dirty as you think. Can you please stop being so petty?"

Ever since Chase joined Lancaster Group, the relationship between Victoria and I has deteriorated dramatically.

Not only did Victoria often stay out all night, she also scolded me in public because of Chase.

In Lancaster Group, my status as the vice president is not even as high as Chase's as the assistant.

Half a month ago, when I was on a business trip, Howard's housekeeper found me and said that Howard had left a huge inheritance for me to inherit.

At first, I thought the housekeeper was a liar and ignored him.

Later, he produced various evidences, and I followed him to Sterling Manor half-believingly.

Over at Sterling Manor, I saw portraits of my parents, and I do look a bit like them.

The most important thing is that the Sterling silver pocket watch I have worn around my neck since I was a child is a family heirloom of the Sterling family, and this has been verified.
