Angryly Scolding Vampire Bestie
Chapter 2
I still remember the first day of freshman year. I didn’t want my parents to drop me off, wanting to do it on my own, so our housekeeper took me to campus.
As we pulled up across from the school, I spotted this girl in worn-out clothes with a red stain on the back of her pants.
Realizing what was going on, I asked the housekeeper to call her over to the car.
She was using old rags, and I felt bad for her, so I let her use the car to clean up.
The housekeeper gave her some sanitary pads, and I even handed her a couple of my lighter, designer dresses to help her stay cool.
She was so happy, thanking me endlessly, running her hands over the dresses like they were treasures.
Our Rolls-Royce was parked nearby, and with the housekeeper and driver in tow, it was clear I came from money. She took the opportunity to ask for my number, saying she wanted to stay in touch as a way of thanking me.
Not long after, she somehow managed to move into my dorm, even pushing out one of my original roommates.
“Sienna,” she said one day when we were alone, “it’s better if you don’t let everyone know how rich you are. People will just think you’re some stuck-up princess and avoid you.”
At the time, I was pretty sheltered and eager to make friends on my own. I’d even refused the house my parents wanted to buy me near campus, choosing to live in the dorms instead.
Kylie was my first friend, and I genuinely thought she had my best interests at heart.
But looking back, that was when her scheming started. Everything was part of her plan from the beginning.
When we were all introducing ourselves in the dorm, Kylie casually mentioned that my parents were just regular workers. I didn’t think much of it at the time, so I just nodded along.
A few days into military training, I got a call from Kylie late one night. She sounded drunk and said she was stuck outside campus.
I rushed over to a barbecue joint where she was, and when I found her, she was a mess, crying, her makeup smeared. In the private room, she suddenly dropped to her knees, begging me.
“Sienna, my family won’t give me money for school! I can’t even afford tuition. I know your family’s rich… could you lend me some money? If not, I’ll have to go back to my village and marry some old guy to save my brother!”
I was taken aback. I had no idea her situation was this bad.
I thought I was saving her from a horrible fate, so without a second thought, I handed her my mom’s card. I didn’t even know how much university cost, but I figured it didn’t matter. My parents had each given me a card for expenses, so I just let her use one.
From that day on, Kylie and I were inseparable. After military training, we went shopping together, and she used my card to buy her first Dior lipstick.
I didn’t think much of it. But then she started getting more comfortable, buying Chanel clothes and Louis Vuitton bags, all on my card.
At the time, I didn’t care. I was used to that kind of spending myself, and she’d even buy me things now and then.
I didn’t realize that behind my back, she was telling everyone that I was her tagalong and that she was the one generously buying me all those things.
Kylie didn’t stop there. She started treating others to fancy dinners, handing out expensive gifts, still with my card.
When her family demanded she return home, she even used it to take out 100 thousand dollars for her brother’s bride price. And I let her, thinking I was helping my friend avoid a terrible marriage.
By the end of our first semester, Kylie was my only friend. Everyone else gave me the cold shoulder, rolling their eyes and avoiding me as if I was some kind of outcast.
My roommates started turning against me, throwing my stuff around and calling me disgusting.
I didn’t understand why at first. I had no idea that behind my back, Kylie was spreading rumors that I was some rich guy’s mistress.
Feeling miserable in the dorm, I rented a small loft near campus just to get away. But Kylie twisted that too, telling everyone that I was only living there because I needed money for my brother’s dowry, claiming I was being kept by someone. She took everything true about her life and threw it onto mine.
While Kylie became the queen bee on campus, everyone admiring her for her so-called wealth and charm, I became the outcast. People avoided me like I was contagious. Even the Counselor and teachers started treating me like I was beneath them, their looks filled with judgment. The constant mistreatment pushed me deeper into depression.
I had given everything to that friendship, but all the pain, all the humiliation—it was because of her. Kylie destroyed me and shattered my family.

I took a deep breath, forcing myself to stay calm, swallowing the anger that threatened to spill over.
Then I told Kylie, with a smile, “I’m coming to dinner with you all.”
She didn’t hide her surprise. Clearly, she wasn’t thrilled. Of course not. How could she show off without me around?
“But don’t you usually go home for the holidays?” she asked, trying to keep her voice casual.
I put on a pout, playing my part. “Parents are working late. I’ve only got you. Let me grab something nice to wear!”
Kylie’s smile tightened, but she couldn’t exactly refuse me. She didn’t want to risk offending me, so she nodded, pretending like it was no big deal.
I smiled to myself. I wasn’t going to let her have an easy night.
The four of us headed out, and when we got into the cab, I automatically took a seat in the back.
Mia gave me a disgusted look. “I’m not sitting next to her,” she muttered, pulling Wilma along to take another car.
If this had happened before, I might’ve been hurt.
But now? I knew exactly what they thought of me. To them, I was just some girl with a sugar daddy, probably diseased or something.
Kylie had no choice but to ride with me. She fidgeted the entire time, clearly uncomfortable, which just made me even more certain I’d made the right call coming along.
We finally arrived at the restaurant, and Kylie, Mia, and Wilma strolled in together like they were some kind of trio.
The restaurant manager greeted them immediately, practically falling over himself.
“Miss Carter, welcome back!”
Of course, Kylie had been here plenty of times, living it up on my mom’s dime.
I lagged, and just as I was about to walk in, a waitress stepped in front of me, looking me up and down.
“Excuse me, miss, do you have a reservation?”
Her tone was ice-cold, her eyes filled with judgment.
I glanced down at my outfit, another one of Kylie’s picks, because apparently “low-key” was the way to go.
Kylie pretended she didn’t notice, probably hoping the waitress would kick me out so she wouldn’t have to deal with me. I wasn’t about to let that happen.
“Kylie!”
I called out, loud enough for everyone to hear. She had no choice but to turn and acknowledge me.
Once we reached the private dining room, I saw nearly the entire class was there, over twenty people.
As soon as Kylie walked in, everyone started fawning over her.
“Kylie’s treating us again!”
“I already ordered you some bird’s nest soup. Want me to feed it to you?” one of the guys joked.
I glanced at the menu: sea cucumber, king crab, sturgeon, the works.
No wonder everyone loved her. Who wouldn’t adore someone who treated them to luxury meals?
Mia shot me another nasty look, then turned to the waiter. “Can you bring extra servings? We wouldn’t want anyone catching anything... contagious.”
Her voice dripped with sarcasm, and everyone knew who she meant. I did too, but I wasn’t going to give them the satisfaction of reacting. Let them think whatever they want. I was done playing their game.
During dinner, they popped open a few bottles of wine, each one worth over a thousand dollars.
No one paid any attention to me. They were all too busy flattering Kylie, hanging on her every word.
After everyone had eaten and laughed their way through the meal, we made our way out of the restaurant.
When the bill came, 18 thousand dollars, everyone turned to Kylie, expecting her to take care of it. She gave a proud smile, pulling out the credit card my mom had given me, and handed it to the waiter like she was royalty.
I was sure she felt like a high-society queen right then.
But the moment didn’t last long.
“Sorry, Miss Carter, this card isn’t going through.”
The restaurant manager returned with the card in his hand, looking a bit uneasy.
Kylie blinked in surprise, her face tightening. “Try it again. That’s impossible. Your system must be acting up.”
The manager gave an apologetic nod. “I’m afraid your card has been locked.”
Her expression faltered, panic flashing in her eyes as she glanced over at me for answers.
