Alpha's Substitute Bride: My Sister’s Devious Trap
Chapter 1
DIANE'S POINT OF VIEW
The drive to Michelle’s wedding was exhausting but excited.
James Harper, my mate, owned the hall where Michelle will hold the wedding, one of the perks he enjoyed as the Alpha of the largest pack in the area and I am his Luna. I thought it would be a nice little surprise for my sister Michelle. An apology of sorts for being out of contact with each other for so long.
When I finally reached the turn-in, I put the car in park to stop and admire the entrance. Two tall brick columns loomed on both sides of the driveway—a driveway that never seemed to have an end. I craned my neck, trying to see the length of it, but the dark asphalt snakes between the trees blocked the view.
I wondered if Michelle would be happy to see me.
The security gate finally propped open, so I put the car back in drive and slowly ambled past the sturdy wrought iron. I had to remind myself to not freak out. This was my sister, after all.
I'd meet Michelle and it would be great.
Finally finding a spot next to the garage, I put my car in park and killed the engine. I reached over to the passenger seat to grab my phone and shoot James a quick message to let him know that I made it and it was as beautiful as he had claimed.
Seeing how much meaning Michelle meant to me, he asked me to go ahead that he'd catch up as he had a little errand to run. Text done, I reached for the driver side handle when I stiffened.
“Shit!”
“Did I scare you? Sorry. There's a lot of noise here so, you probably didn't hear me coming. How are you, Diane?” Michelle asked, flashing me her smile.
I stumbled out of the car and hugged her so tight. “I missed you. How are you? There's a lot of catching up to do,” I said as I pulled back and admired her in her wedding dress.
I looked around and noticed we were suddenly the only ones outside. Had I spent so much time texting James? I shook my head and turned my attention back to the still smiling Michelle.
“So, are you excited? It's your wedding day! I am so glad I made it just in time.” I said, practically bouncing my feet.
“I am! And you have no idea how relieved I am to see you here. I am grateful to you, sister.” Michelle said.
I cocked my head. “What's wrong?”
“What? Nothing's wrong. It just the nerves,” she said. “Why don't you go in and I'll meet you in there when the music starts?”
I nodded. “Are you sure you're okay?”
“Why wouldn't I be? It's the happiest day of my life!”
That was all I needed to hear. Squeezing her another hug, I quickly hurried inside as the music started. There was a couple of stares, but I brushed it off.
I made my way to my reserved spot at the main table and had barely sat down when he slammed the door open.
Alpha Noah Cane. From what I heard, a violent male who was known for his cold, hard brutality. Pale white skin, dressed in a shiny black one piece suit complete with the infamous scar on his chin, he made his way inside one hand clenched and fury written all of his face.
I was suddenly afraid for my sister. Why was she getting married to a man that even James, my mate, the powerful alpha around hesitates to deal with?
I took out my phone, meaning to text James, letting him know what was happening and asking when he would be here. And that's when I felt it. A rock slammed into the side of my face, there was a sickening crunch. I hit the floor with a loud thud.
“You fucking bitch! After all I've done for you, you repay me my cheating? This is how you repay me?!”
A violent kick to my side, prevented me from going under. I heaved and crawled, trying to make my way to safety when he grabbed my head and slammed it into the ground, knocking me unconscious.
