Chapter 8

It turns out the new cup is a matching set with Alpha's. "Daniella, I'm sorry. I accidentally broke your shell earlier. If you don't mind, you can use mine for now." Camilla took the new cup and smiled while apologizing. Daniella's face remained expressionless, but she did not respond to anything Camilla said.

However, Alpha interjected with a dismissive tone. "Camilla, you don't need to apologize for anything; it's just a cup. We have plenty here." Daniella clenched her fist without anyone knowing; her nose hurt, and her ears were hot from repressed emotions. The cup was not an ordinary cup—it was the cup they bought together, intentionally made as a pair, as if the cup were a symbol of their bond. Daniella highly valued even the smallest things she did with Alpha and treated them like treasures.

However, for Alpha Darren, it was just an ordinary cup, worth nothing at all. "It's okay. I can just use the disposable ones," Daniella said lightly. She took a sip of water and returned to the bedroom.

As she sat down, her mind returned to a piece of paper requesting to be transferred to another pack as a healer. After many things happened, the urge to leave grew stronger. She has no control over breaking the mate bond, but she will express this desire first. If Alpha Darren refuses to sign this, it means the distributors and the pack border guards will not allow her to enter or leave the pack.

Daniella needs to make sure Alpha Darren really wants to let her go. "Why are you still awake?" Alpha's voice startled her as he entered the room. He saw Daniella sitting next to the bed, seemingly on a phone call in the middle of the night.

"Alright, I'll ask you about it," she said at the end of their phone call. While turning to the Alpha, Daniella replied nonchalantly, "You haven't slept yet either? My legs still feel sore and keep me awake until late at night, so I thought it would be best to chat with a fellow healer."

When he heard about her leg, Alpha Darren's expression changed. He suddenly remembered that he hadn't fully healed Daniella's wound because he recalled leaving Camilla alone for too long downstairs.

Alpha pretended to be worried; he lifted the blanket and carefully examined the wound, which turned out to still need a bit of his strength to heal completely. "The swelling has decreased significantly. After this, it will definitely heal completely," murmured Alpha, then as if wanting to change the subject, he asked, "Who were you talking to earlier? You seemed to enjoy it."

Daniella instinctively tightened her grip on her phone. If Alpha paid close attention, he would notice that the screen of her phone was black—Daniella was not on a call with anyone. "That was Uncle Jerremy wanting to take the healers to a settlement affected by the plague; they will volunteer there. Because you know I didn't have many activities before becoming Luna, I want to participate in it." Daniella's lie slipped out so smoothly, like a child asking their parents for permission to go on a school trip.

As if it were not a difficult matter and something to be questioned for her as a candidate for Luna. Pretending to be relaxed, Daniella even showed her participation application letter, as many healers from various packs were considering it.

Moreover, all this time Alpha Darren had never questioned Daniella's healing abilities; he knew Daniella was so ambitious to maintain and even develop her talent. Alpha Darren never minded; Luna's healing ability was a plus for him. "Zane called me and asked about it; she is considering it and will ask for permission soon." Alpha Darren nodded without suspicion; he didn't even ask anything or read carefully the participation request letter given by Daniella. Even though Daniella was trembling with fear, she could already guess that something related to her had never been closely examined by the Alpha.

With this, Daniella's abilities will be recognized as a skilled healer, which will also be useful for the Black Shadow pack. "But I think that's not necessary for you; Black Shadow can recognize your abilities even if you don't have a certificate. If I mention your abilities, they will immediately appreciate your talent." Hearing his words, Daniella sighed softly. She had anticipated rejection from Alpha. However, another idea came to Daniella's mind. In the past, when their arguments heated up, Alpha sometimes resorted to physical violence.

And how was the resolution? Alpha then signed an apology letter to calm Daniella and maintain their relationship. He clearly remembers one incident. At that time, Daniella stopped him from going to meet Camilla. Without their knowledge, Camilla had hurt herself in the forest, but it was just a superficial wound that only needed to be bandaged.

However, that night, when Alpha Darren returned home with great anger. He slammed the door with the Alpha strength he possessed, tossing heavy objects around because Daniella had taken too long to face him. When Daniella came down, she saw their house in disarray, the sofa scattered everywhere, the table shattered, and the wall with deep punch marks.

He slapped Daniella, gripping the jaw of a woman he had announced to everyone was his mate and who would soon be appointed as Luna. But he did this because of another woman. "If you don't stop me, Camilla won't get hurt!" he shouted. And his words still echo painfully in Daniella's mind until now.
