Chapter 5

Anna Collins forced a smile, but couldn't hide the trembling in his voice: "...Really? That's good."

Ethan Grant tilted his head slightly, glanced at her, but said nothing.

The next day, in the company lobby.

Clara was wearing a white windbreaker, her long hair draped over her shoulders, and she had a bright smile. She was surrounded by people, flowers, and applause.

Everyone's eyes sparkled with amazement and curiosity, and their voices were filled with praise.

"Is this Miss Su? She's truly extraordinary."

"No wonder Mr. Ethan was so persistent back then..."

Anna Collins stood at the end of the crowd, holding the documents, watching quietly.

At that moment, she suddenly felt that she was the real outsider.

During the lunch break, she saw two figures at the end of the corridor.

The man is tall and straight, and the woman is gentle and cuddly.

They stood side by side, their atmosphere naturally intimate, as if there had never been a gap in the past three years.

Clara whispered something, and Ethan Grant lowered his head, rarely revealing a faint smile.

Anna Collins stood there in a daze, his fingertips tightly gripping the document, the corners of which were wrinkled.

She waited for that smile for three years.

But he never gave it to her.

When I got home in the evening, there was a pair of women's slippers in the living room.

There is also an exquisite suitcase at the entrance.

Ethan Grant took off his coat and said in a very natural tone: "Clara, you don't mind if I stay here temporarily?"

Anna Collins felt a pang of pain in his heart, but he smiled and shook his head: "I don't mind."

The moment she turned around, her eyes turned red.

It turned out that the home she had guarded for three years was just a place left for someone else.

late at night.

Anna Collins was cleaning the dishes in the kitchen when she heard a soft laugh coming from upstairs.

Men have low voices, women have crisp voices.

The sound was very soft, but it struck her heart again and again.

She put down her chopsticks and dishes, her fingertips trembling, and she couldn't even hold the edge of the glass firmly.

The cup fell to the ground and the sound of it breaking startled the people upstairs.

Footsteps soon arrived.

It was Clara, wearing home clothes, standing at the stairs with a harmless smile: "Anna , are you okay?"

Ethan Grant followed behind her, frowning slightly, and looked at Anna Collins with a hint of impatience.

"You're so clumsy. Be more careful next time."

Just one sentence pushed her into the abyss of embarrassment.

Anna Collins lowered her head and silently swept up the fragments. A bloody cut was left on her fingertips, but she didn't even frown.

Because compared to the pain of the wound, the indifference in her heart is what really makes her suffer so much that she has nowhere to escape.

The lights in the living room were a warm yellow, yet cold and blinding.

After cleaning up the broken glass, Anna Collins silently returned to the guest bedroom, closed the door, and slid his back slowly against the cold wall.

She stared at the bloody wound on her palm. The red color seeped out little by little, but the pain made her inexplicably sober.

It turned out that she had become accustomed to not being seen and not being cared about.

Over the next few days, the house seemed to have changed.

There was an extra pair of bowls and chopsticks on the dining table.

There was a light-colored blanket on the sofa, with the scent of perfume that did not belong to her.

Even the pen in the study, which he had never let anyone touch, was casually placed next to Clara.

Every time Anna Collins saw it, he felt like his heart was being stabbed by a needle.

But she didn't say a word.

She just continued to quietly take care of the housework and cook meals for three people, like a transparent person.

One weekend, she went shopping at the mall.

Inadvertently, I saw the news playing on the big screen.

Ethan Grant, CEO of Ethan 's Group , and his childhood sweetheart, Clara, attended a charity dinner together, acting intimately. Could this be a rekindling of their past relationship?
