After the Class Reunion, My First Love Became My Husband
Chapter 8
I waited and waited and eventually fell asleep. When I woke up, Locke had returned.
His coat was draped over my shoulders.
He was leaning against the window, reading a medical book.
I remembered a quiet evening after school long ago.
That day, he was the only one in the empty classroom. He leaned against the window, the evening light casting a glow over him. The wind blew in, and the fluttering curtain gently brushed the hem of his clothes.
I softly asked, "Locke, do you want to become a doctor?"
Locke didn't seem surprised to see me. He just looked up and smiled gently at me.
The voice in my memory overlapped with the voice of the man in front of me.
"Yes. What about you, Kristina?"
My eyes grew hot, and tears nearly fell.
I quickly turned away and wiped the corners of my eyes.
Locke walked over, took my hand, and intertwined his fingers with mine.
He held my hand tightly.
"Are you hungry? If you are, we can eat first. If not, I'll take you home."
I let him lead me, feeling dazed.
My attention was all on him, so much so that I didn't even notice the stares we were getting in the hospital.
"Why are we going to my place?"
"To get your documents."
"Why do we need my documents?"
"To register our marriage."
His voice echoed in my ears, "I still love you just as much as I did ten years ago."
