Chapter 1

I want another child after a late-term miscarriage.

But for the sake of my health, my husband hadn't slept with me for a year.

Until I accidentally clicked on the private message between him and a female student.

She acted like a spoiled child with grievance.

"You're not gonna spend Valentine's Day with me. Boohoo."

"Will you have sex with her tonight?"

He said, "No. You know, I don't like to have love just to have a child."

"I bought you a set of underwear. Put it on tomorrow."

I was wearing the lace underwear that didn't fit me.

I thought it was Kayden's gift to me.

So I put it on while he was taking a shower.

It turned out that he had not bought the wrong size, but sent it to the wrong address.

I clicked on the girl's home page through private messages.

The latest video was taken at the seaside. She held the photographer's hand and smiled brightly at the camera.

I recognized that it was Kayden's left hand.

His fingers were long and slender. There was a mark of a wedding ring on his ring finger.

I couldn't help but clench the ring on my finger.

I swiped the screen of my phone.

I saw that she had even posted a photo of expensive cosmetics.

The caption was, "What should I do if my hubby knows nothing about cosmetics? He doesn't know how to choose a lipstick shade, but he buys me a lot of stuff. A face exhaling emoji."

I opened Kayden's shopping app.

He had recently bought a lot of expensive cosmetics and skincare products, such as lipstick and foundation cream.

I clicked on them one by one and found that they were delivered to the same address. It was a dormitory building at a university and the recipient was called Carrie Clark.

I calmly returned to the dialog box and recorded their chat history on video with my phone.

They didn't talk much. Most of the time, he asked her out, or she asked when he would come to see her.

And they flirted sometimes.

I sent the video to myself and deleted the record.

Then, I clicked on the album and deleted the video and the one in the trash in one go.

When I heard Kayden turn the handle of the bedroom door, I put his phone back in place.

He walked out, his wet, slightly curled hair falling on his forehead.

Droplets of water dripped down along his hair and slid across his well-defined chin.

He saw the underwear I was wearing.

He was stunned for a moment.

"Do you like it?" he asked.

"It's too small. It's been washed. So I can't return it?"

"Why would you want to? I bought it for you."

I didn't expose his lie.

I looked down at my lower abdomen covered with silver-white stretch marks.

He walked over and placed his hand on it.

"Are you thinking about Jess again?"

Jess was the nickname we gave to our unborn baby who died.

"Don't be sad. We'll have children." He comforted me.

"But we haven't had sex for a year."

"Leah, I want sex too, but for your health, let's wait a little longer."

I knew he didn't want sex with me.

His physical reaction was real.

"Your mother sent me a message today, asking me why I'm not pregnant yet. She wants me to try traditional methods." I rested my head on his shoulder. "Why don't we have a try tonight?"

His body stiffened.

"Leah, in fact, we can consider doing IVF. I've checked that IVF can ensure the health of the fetus to the greatest extent, and we can choose the time, quantity, and gender."

Although I guessed that he would refuse to have sex with me, I still felt disappointed.

To avoid sleeping with me, he would rather let me do IVF.

"Okay. I'll consider it," I said calmly. "Honey, I'm hungry. Go downstairs and buy me something to eat."

After he went downstairs, I went to the underground garage on sublevel two and hid a dictaphone in his car.
