After the Car Accident, Everyone Said I Had Amnesia

8.6 / 10.0
Following a severe crash, everyone assumes she has amnesia because she has no memory of Beckett Garrison—the man she supposedly spent five years chasing. However, she hasn't lost her memory; she is actually a traveler from a parallel universe where Beckett never existed. Now that she has stopped pursuing him, the dynamic flips. The once-distant billionaire is suddenly desperate for her attention, drinking himself into dishevelment and begging her to do whatever she wants, if only she will remember him.

After the Car Accident, Everyone Said I Had Amnesia Chapter 1

After the car accident, everyone said I had amnesia. But I don't.

They said, "You don't even remember Beckett Garrison? You've been chasing him for five whole years!"

The truth is, it's not that I can't remember him—it's that I've never known him.

I'm from a parallel universe. In my world, there's no such person as Beckett Garrison.

But now that I've stopped chasing him, he's started chasing me instead.

The man who was always so cold and aloof got drunk for me, his clothes a mess. "As long as you remember me, I'll let you do anything to me."

I was in a car accident. The doctors snatched me from the jaws of death.

Today, my best friend picked me up from the hospital and took me straight to her place.

She hesitated for a moment, then said indignantly, "You're never going back there again."

Even though the doctors saved my life, they diagnosed me with selective amnesia.

They said, "You don't even remember Beckett Garrison? You chased after him for five whole years!"

Beckett Garrison.

But that name was completely foreign to me.

The truth is, it's not that I don't remember him—it's that I've never known him.

I'm from a parallel universe. In my world, there's no such person as Beckett Garrison.

I replied to my best friend, "I honestly don't remember anyone named Beckett Garrison ever being in my life."

Seeing my bewildered expression, my best friend looked pained. "You get into an accident and lose your memory, and he still doesn't give a damn about you. That man has no conscience."

Seeing her so indignant on my behalf, I could only offer a helpless smile.

"It's fine. As long as I have you, I'm okay."

The words had barely left my mouth when there was a knock at the door.

KNOCK KNOCK.

Desperate to avoid discussing my amnesia any further, I seized the interruption like a lifeline and went to open the door.

"I'll get it."

When I opened the door, I was met with the sight of a man with cold, severe features.

His gaze fell on my face. He looked impatient, but with a face like his, it was hard to find him repulsive.

"When are you coming back?"

He led with that question. Realizing something was off, I turned and whispered to my best friend.

"This isn't the Beckett Garrison you were telling me about, is it?"

My best friend nodded.

From what my best friend had said, I could guess that this man wasn't exactly a positive presence in my life.

While he was certainly attractive, it didn't mean much to me.

I frowned and explained, "I'm sorry, I don't know you."

At my words, the man's thin lips pressed into a hard line. He stared at me with a strange expression.

After a long silence, I decided to just close the door. 'Time to sever this toxic tie for good.'

But before the door could close, a large hand shot out, stopping it firmly. He pushed his way inside, his expression impatient.

"What's with the act? It was just a car accident. Are you trying to pull another stunt to get my attention?"

"How many times have you pulled these pathetic little stunts? Keep faking it, and see if I don't start ignoring you for real."

Hearing this, my best friend, who was standing behind me, lost her cool. She stepped forward to confront him.

"Beckett Garrison, do you have any conscience saying something like that? Don't you have any clue how much Sienna has done for you?"

"If you said the word, she'd run from one side of the city to the other in the pouring rain, just to buy you a box of pastries. If you wanted a snack at two or three in the morning, she'd have to crawl out of bed and wait on you hand and foot like a maid..."

Beckett Garrison kept one hand in his pocket, his dark eyes filled with the same nonchalant indifference.

My best friend had been running herself ragged taking care of me in the hospital for the past few days. Listening to her now, I could tell she was genuinely worked up.

Beckett Garrison paid no mind to my best friend's scolding. His gaze drifted to me, and he seemed utterly confident that I would go back with him.

Seeing how furious my friend was, I reached out and gently guided her aside.

Seeing my action, Beckett Garrison's lips curved into a faint smirk, as if mocking my best friend for getting involved.

I calmly met the man's gaze and spoke, my voice even.

"You're not welcome here. State your business, or leave."

A flicker of confusion finally crossed Beckett Garrison's face, but he quickly masked it, his tone returning to its usual cold aloofness.

"The laundry at home has been piling up. Aren't you going to go back and take care of it?"

His words were so ridiculous I almost laughed. 'So he really thinks I'm his personal maid.'

"Did you lose your hands and feet? If the laundry isn't done, wash it yourself! What does that have to do with me!"

The smile finally vanished from my face. As I spoke, I shoved him, pushing him straight out the door.

SLAM!

I slammed the door shut without a moment's hesitation.

With the noise finally shut out, my mood instantly improved.
