After the Betrayal: A Daughter's Revenge Chapter 1

I missed seeing my mother Mia for the last time.

Mia suffered from depression and committed suicide by jumping off the building on the day I returned home.

I knelt in the morgue and cried my heart out, but my father Oliver Collins couldn't wait any longer and married his first love, Kathy Morgan.

Kathy was very kind to me in front of Oliver, but she was mean and harsh to me behind his back.

It wasn't until one day when I overheard their conversation that I realized Mia's death was not an accident.

I rushed over with red eyes, but Oliver pushed me to protect Kathy, causing me to fall off the stairs.

After rebirth, I vowed to protect Mia and make Oliver and Kathy pay the price.

I took a flight for more than ten hours and finally arrived home at midnight before Mia's birthday.

But just as I was pulling my suitcase downstairs of my house, I saw someone fall from the building onto the open space in front of me.

The person fell on his back with a loud thud.

Her eyes stared at the sky empty, blood was oozing from her eyes, ears, mouth, and nose, and her expression was indifferent.

Large amounts of blood slowly flowed out from under her body, soaking her white dress.

My mind went blank and the whole world seemed to be emitting a deafening blind sound.

My legs went limp, and I knelt on the ground, shouting with trembling lips, "Mom?"

People were screaming around me, some were calling the ambulance, and some were asking me something.

But I couldn't hear anything. All I saw was Mia's dead body, with twisted limbs and covered in blood.

Medical workers put Mia on a stretcher and carried her into an ambulance. I subconsciously followed them.

"That's my mother..."

I followed them into the ambulance, my body frozen as I watched them put an oxygen mask on Mia. The machine that was testing her vital signs kept making a distracting beeping sound.

When we arrived at the hospital, Mia was pushed into the emergency room and I was kept outside.

There were a lot of people coming and going, and it was very noisy, but I couldn't hear or see anything at all.

I just stared at the ER light.

Time slowly passed, and finally, the lights went out and the doctor came out.

I rushed over and asked, "How is my mother?"

The doctor shook his head and said, "We have done our best."

I didn't know how I ended up in the morgue. The incandescent lights were shining brightly inside, but I felt cold all over.

Mia was lying there, the blood had been cleaned up, her eyes were closed, and she looked like she was asleep.

"Mom, I'm back..."

I couldn't stop shivering and felt the coldness in my bones.

"Mom, did you hear me?"

Even my teeth were chattering.

Mia lay there quietly

I stood there for a while, staring at her blankly, and finally, my legs went weak and I knelt beside her body, crying loudly.

When it was just getting light, the people from the funeral home took Mia away.

I followed in silence.

Mia, who would gently touch my head and speak sweetly to me in my memory, was sent to the incinerator.

An hour later, she turned into ash and was placed in a small pottery jar.

I held the urn in my hands, looking dazed.

My cell phone rang. It was Oliver calling.

After I answered the phone, I heard Oliver's joyful voice.

"Hey, Tina, today me and Kathy are getting married. We will hold a banquet at the Verdant Hotel. Come directly after you get off the plane."

I hung up on him straight away.

I slowly curled up my body and held Mia in my arms.

"Mom, why didn't you wait for me..."
