Chapter 2

In my previous life, he would never take the initiative to coax me no matter what the reason for the quarrel between us was. Instead, he would only make up with me if I coaxed him first.

"Those who are favored always have no fear."

"In this life, I don't want to be so humble anymore."

Kellan and I had been in a deadlock fight for a whole week.

This week, I hadn't contacted him once.

Kellan, who had long been accustomed to my submissiveness, seemed that he couldn't stand it anymore.

On the 8th day, as soon as I came out of the set, a WhatsApp message from him popped up on my cell phone.

It was a photo.

It was a photo of him at a dinner party, in which he was hugging a young girl.

His eyes were full of provocation and show-off. It seemed as if he were saying to me, "Eileen, I have plenty of girls around me, who like me."

I rolled my eyes and sent him a photo of mine.

It was a WhatsApp chat screenshot of my mom urging me to go on blind dates.

After leaving Kellan's house that day, I went home and told my parents that Kellan and I had broken up.

My parents congratulated me on the spot.

They never liked Kellan.

It was not because of his poor family background. Instead, they both thought he, who had a bad character, was not an ideal man for me to marry.

My parents were much more experienced than me. Most of the people, whom they didn't trust, turned out to indeed have some issues.

"Marriages that the old generations oppose usually don't end up well."

"I learned such a painful lesson from my excruciating personal experience, hoping young girls won't follow in my footsteps."

In my previous life, my parents advised me to break up multiple times, begging me. But I, who was blinded by love, insisted on marrying him.

Later, he proudly showed off in front of me after achieving success in his career. Hugging his ex-girlfriend, he said, "You are now old and no longer worthy of me. Here is 1 million dollars. Consider it as the caregiver fee for taking care of my mother all these years. Take it and get lost.”

After being kicked out, I dragged my battered body back to my parent’s home. Upon learning about my ordeal, they were righteously agitated. My father, who had suffered from heart disease, was immediately hospitalized.

Not long after, my father passed away.

My mother became depressed. Two years later, she left me and departed from this world.

"I don't want to look back on the past..."

"In this life, I will not repeat the same mistakes."

So, I readily agreed when my mom urged me to go on a blind date.

Two minutes later, Kellan called me.

I touched lightly on the screen of the cell phone and swiped up. The call was connected, and Kellan's roar came through.

"Eileen, by playing two sides of the fence, you're quite a player. I didn't expect you to be this kind of person!"

I snorted indifferently, saying, "Aren't you the same?"

"I'm different from you. She was my colleague. We were having a company gathering."

"Is that important?"

After saying that, I decisively hung up the call.

Then I blocked him.

I exhaled a breath of stale air, instantly feeling relieved.

I went back to the nanny's car and opened the window. A gust of wind came in, mixed with the faint fragrance of flowers, and rushed into my nose along with my breath.

"It turns out that the world can be so beautiful after I leave the scumbag. Even the air is so sweet and intoxicating."
