Chapter 4

Marshall's leg gradually recovered, and he often asked me to help him go for a walk early in the morning, saying it would be beneficial for his recovery.

On that day, I made an excuse that the teacher asked me to stay at school to study, forcing Nick to accompany Marshall for a walk.

Before Nick went out, I deliberately took out his mobile phone and said, "Take your phone and contact me if there is anything."

Nick had always been impatient. After taking his phone, he didn't want to pay attention to Marshall at all.

I had only been at school for half an hour when Nick called me.

Nick on the phone was very flustered and said, "Sis! Dad was hit by a car!"

I thought Marshall should have fallen on the way home after stepping on a damaged step.

I didn't expect that he would have a car accident.

God help me!

I pretended to comfort Nick and said, "Don't panic, I'll come right away!"

But I deliberately lingered at school for an hour, and when I found Nick, he was still at the scene!

Nick stood on the side of the road playing with his phone, shouting, "Silly, you can't even kill me. You damn it!"

I went up and asked him, "Where's dad?"

Only then did he wake up as if from a dream, "Why did you come so late? Dad..."

"It seemed that Dad was taken to the hospital."

When Nick and I arrived at the hospital, Raina was crying heartbreakingly at the door of the ward.

"You little brat, where did you go? How did your dad have a car accident!"

I quickly shed a few tears and pointed the finger at Nick.

"Mom, I told my brother today that the teacher kept me at school for individual tutoring, so it was my brother who accompanied dad for a walk."

"I thought Dad was hurt like this, my brother will take good care of him..."

"Nick, can you explain what happened?"

Nick's face turned red with anxiety, and he could only repeat, "I didn't mean to..."

Raina cried while hitting Nick's back with her hand, "Your father is paralyzed! The surgery cost will be a large sum!"

"Why am I so unlucky to have a bunch of troublemakers like you!"

Raina cried for a long time, and Marshall slowly woke up.

I quickly approached and asked, "Dad, are you in pain?"

"It's all my fault. I shouldn't have let my brother take care of you. I should have thought of him..."

Nick instinctively pushed the blame onto me.

"It's your fault! You said you wanted to go to school and write some stupid questions. I told you I didn't want to take care of..."

He realized something and abruptly stopped speaking.

Marshall looked at Nick, his eyes filled with hatred.
