After Rebirth, I Ruthlessly Tore Off My Mother's Fig Leaf
Chapter 1
My only nephew, Noah Williams, was burned alive at home.
My mom firmly believed that I let him die on purpose.
She harbored a grudge and gave my daughter, Chloe Williams, and me expired pills.
We accidentally died from poisoning and became his burial companions.
After my rebirth, I rushed into my daughter's room and dragged my nephew out from under the bed and out of the fire.
As I rushed out of the fire, my mom was screaming with all her might.
"Noah is still inside! Someone save him!
"He's so young and must be terrified! Can anyone help save him?"
Her friends tried to persuade her, "The fire is too intense now. Let's wait for the firefighters."
Seeing no one helping, my mom got even more agitated.
"You men are tall and strong. Can't you go in and save him first?"
In my mom's view, it's always others who are wrong, never her.
After cursing the men standing by, she turned to her friends.
"I said let's finish early today, but you insisted on playing two more rounds!
"Just to win a few more dollars, you caused my grandson to be burned at home. How unlucky I am!"
They didn't stop her anymore, and they stepped aside.
"If you're so capable, go in and save him yourself!"
"The fire is so huge. How can I save him? Whoever helps me, I'll kneel and thank them!"
My mom's eyes were red with urgency.
The people she scolded didn't pamper her.
"Your life is valuable, but ours aren't? Who cares if you kneel?
"When asked if anyone was home, you didn't think and said no one was! After winning money, you remembered your grandson, but it was too late!
"With a grandma like you, it's just bad luck if he dies!"
My mom's pupils contracted. Her fear turned into anger instantly.
"Hey, where are Michelle and her daughter?"
This statement from the crowd was like a blame.
It immediately made the whole family preemptively blame me.
"Are they back?"
In my previous life, this was when I escaped the fire with my feverish daughter, leaving my nephew to burn to death.
The family stubbornly believed that because my marriage was unhappy, I couldn't stand my brother's family's happiness and deliberately let my nephew die in the fire.
They were determined to blame me without any reason.
I had no idea Noah was at home.
Usually, I would take Noah and Chloe to their extracurricular classes after school.
Chloe and I had the flu, so I took time off work at noon to take her to the doctor and then went home to rest.
I called my mom. But she didn't answer, probably busy playing cards.
I sent her a message asking her to pick up Noah from school and take him to his extracurricular class in the evening.
I went out to buy groceries, not knowing Noah had come home alone.
I also didn't know why he would be burned to death under Chloe's bed.
If he hadn't hidden under Chloe's bed, the firefighters wouldn't have missed that room and lost the best chance to save him.
I explained the situation countless times, but no one believed me.
They questioned why I didn't notice someone under the bed when I saved Chloe.
How ridiculous!
With a dizzy head, I held Chloe in my left arm and carried the unconscious Noah in my right. I rushed out of the fire.
"Mom, I saved them! They're alive!"
Hearing my words, my mom rushed toward me as if seeing a savior.
When I fell to the ground exhausted, she immediately grabbed Noah off my back.
"Noah, are you okay? Wake up, Noah. Don't scare me!"
I held Chloe tightly and smiled ironically.
My mom, who had been domineering for so many years and never knew fear. She was trembling with fear for the first time.
The worry and fear on her face were something I had never seen before.
