After Rebirth, I Returned To My Wedding Night
Chapter 3
Jeremy stood at the door, pointing to the dozen or so wooden boxes behind him.
"These are the gifts I prepared for you when you're back home."
I took out a delicate hairpin from one of the boxes and examined it closely.
"Not bad," I said and placed it in my hair.
Jeremy moved forward quickly, trying to snatch it away. "This hairpin is of ordinary quality. It's just a bit flashy. I'll buy you a better one another day."
I dodged him and smiled. "I like this one."
Without waiting for his response, I walked out of the residence.
All the way, Jeremy's face was extremely grim.
Arriving at the Brennan's residence, I found the gates shut, and no one was outside waiting.
Jeremy's expression darkened further.
"Did your parents not know you were coming today?" he asked coldly.
I sneered, "I'm just an illegitimate daughter, never favored. Don't you know that?"
"But today is different from usual."
"True, the poor student has become a top scorer, but they still look down on you."
My words provoked Jeremy, and he was about to take action against me.
I looked at him without stepping back. "Even if I'm not favored, I'm still a daughter of the Brennan family. If you dare to strike me at the Brennan's residence, you're humiliating my family. You can try."
Jeremy's raised hand froze in mid-air as he looked at me in disbelief.
After all, I was once devoted and submissive, but now, I seemed so strange to him.
He thought I would still be as obedient as before.
This was just the beginning.
Entering the Brennan's residence and arriving at the front hall, I saw Carolyn Brennan standing there, her brows looked delicate and her eyes like crystal, exuding a captivating charm.
Jeremy hurried forward.
"Carolyn... Ms. Brennan, why are you standing here?"
"Of course, to welcome our top scorer."
Carolyn spoke playfully, her face full of smiles as she looked at Jeremy.
"Congratulations, Sandra, on marrying such a good match..."
Carolyn took my hands, her eyes inadvertently glancing at the hairpin. Her smile froze instantly.
I pulled my hand away subtly. "If you like it, I can give it to you."
"Sandra, what are you talking about!" Carolyn said angrily.
I took a close look at the long dress Carolyn was wearing, finding the fabric quite familiar.
"Carolyn's dress is quite beautiful," I said, reaching out to lift her sleeve for a closer look.
Carolyn pulled her sleeve back, smiling. "It's just something I bought casually from the shop."
A familiar voice suddenly came from beside me.
"Do you like this kind of fabric?"
Turning around, I saw Bryant. Instinctively, I took several steps back until Bryant's hand steadied me.
I wondered why he came to the Brennan's residence.
I quickly joined the others in greeting.
"This is the royal silk. I have plenty more in my storehouse. If you like it, just take it," Bryant said.
"Daisy Mason, you'll arrange it."
"Understood."
I looked at Carolyn.
"Didn't Carolyn say this was something bought casually from the shop?"
"The royal silk is a tribute. How could it be bought from a shop?" Bryant turned to Carolyn. "I'm curious where Ms. Brennan got this royal silk."
Carolyn's face turned pale. She wanted to say something but stopped. Her eyes were filled with tears.
"Your Highness, this royal silk was granted to me by His Majesty when I passed the exams. Seeing that Ms. Brennan likes it, I... I gave a piece to her," Jeremy explained, his voice trembling.
"Your wife also likes it. Why didn't you make a garment for your wife first, but instead made it for your sister-in-law?" Bryant said with a smile.
Jeremy replied, "At the time, Sandra didn't mention it, so... so I gave it to Carolyn."
"Forget it, I have plenty in my storehouse. I'll give you all of it." Bryant looked at me.
"I don't want to wear the same clothes as others."
Bryant pointed at Carolyn and Jeremy. "You, and you, are not allowed to wear it anymore."
Jeremy was speechless.
"Yes."
"Sure."
Then Bryant looked at me. "Are you satisfied?"
Everyone around was in shock.
Chaim Brennan was also shocked. He quickly approached and asked cautiously, "Your Highness... Are you very familiar with my daughter Sandra?"
Bryant raised an eyebrow, seeming to deliberately raise his voice.
"Doesn't Mr. Brennan know about it? Sandra is my lifesaver."
Everyone's expression changed.
Besides my mother Greta Nicholson, no one in the Brennan family knew this.
Before anyone could react, Bryant pulled me aside.
"I've told you long ago that Jeremy isn't worth anything. You insisted on marrying him, and now look? He's even involved with your sister."
"Your Highness, don't speak nonsense like that."
Bryant tightened his grip on my hand. "Anyone can see except you. But you're still caring about the royal silk!"
After these words.
He reached out to poke my head.
"You're filled with thoughts of Jeremy. You probably can't see the truth. You just won't give up until everything is exposed, right? Then don't come to me crying later."
With that, Bryant stormed off in anger.
It was inexplicable...
Just as I entered the inner hall, Greta frowned and scolded me, "What's wrong with you today? You ruined a good day and made everyone unhappy. Is that your goal?"
As expected, I anticipated Greta would blame me. I just stared at her for a long time.
In my previous life, my death wasn't only Jeremy's fault. Greta was also to blame.
"Why are you staring at me? Is what I said wrong?"
I spoke slowly, my voice choked with emotion. "What did I do wrong today? Why are you making things difficult for me?"
Greta was stunned, perhaps not expecting me to retort.
She flew into anger, saying, "You still don't realize your mistake? You're causing trouble on your visit. Why make things difficult for Carolyn?"
"In front of everyone, it's clear that it was her who was overly intimate with my husband, and she received royal silk from him privately..."
Greta's face changed drastically. "Shut up!" She reached out to slap me.
I grabbed her wrist and said coldly, "You're my mother, but why are you speaking up for others and not showing any concern for me?"
At that moment, Carolyn and Jeremy, having changed into new clothes, entered the room, their eyes red.
