After Rebirth, I Avenge My Daughter
Chapter 1
My husband's sister, Hanah, called the police because she ran out of toilet paper.
When they arrived, they contacted me.
I said nothing on her behalf and sent her to the police station because I had been reborn.
In my previous life, I endured immense suffering in this family, domestic violence from my husband, cold treatment from his parents, and ruthless exploitation from his sister.
After gently admonishing Hanah for misusing public resources at Christmas dinner, she retaliated by setting fire to my daughter's room.
My daughter, the only person in the world who cared about me, was burned to death, and I was also severely burned.
When I opened my eyes again, it was the day Hanah called the police.
When I received the call, I replied decisively, "Please put her in the detention center and educate her."
This time, I took my daughter and left that place of malice without hesitation.
——
I held the phone, listening to the voice in the microphone in a trance.
"Hello, is this Alivia? I am a police officer. Your family member, Hanah, called the police because she didn't bring toilet paper in the public toilet. This behavior is a serious waste of police resources. Can you come and help us deal with it?"
This conversation sounded so familiar. I seemed to have heard it once before.
Looking at my uninjured hands, I realized everything was starting over.
In my previous life, I was lying on a wooden board with severe burns all over my body. My husband Knox, who I had been married to for many years, gave up on treatment and, together with his family members, acted pitifully in front of the camera and used the livestream to make money.
After a few admonishments to Hanah, she set a fire that killed my daughter.
I rushed into the flames to save her, suffering severe burns, and then was left to die on a wooden plank. They used my pitiful look to livestream for sympathy and money.
My body was discarded only after neighbors complained of the stench.
I had been kind to them, yet this was my fate.
Reborn, I refused to handle Hanah's mess.
I couldn't stay in this home anymore.
"Police, her behavior is totally wrong. Please follow the rules and regulations and put her in the detention center."
After hanging up, I entered my daughter Lily's room and saw her quietly doing homework, tears streaming down my face.
After a brief cry, I wiped my tears and packed our bags, ready to leave this home that wasn't ours.
Just as we were about to leave, Knox burst in, furious.
"Alivia! You couldn't even care for Hanah. And now she's locked up in the police station. Did you do this on purpose?"
I quickly hid our luggage and my daughter in the closet and activated my phone's video function.
In the next moment, Knox's fist struck me, knocking me to the ground.
He kicked my stomach, yelling, "You bitch, the police said they called you. And you asked them to put Hanah in the detention center, right? You are really outrageous!"
I protected my head with my arms and turned towards the camera, screaming.
I knew arguing was futile. Anything I said would be twisted.
Knox's parents stood at the door and watched him abuse me, and even stoked the flames.
"Hanah is just a child. She wouldn't do anything wrong. How could the police put her in the detention center? It must be Alivia who said something to the police that harmed our Hanah."
"Knox, I think she is too ungrateful. She doesn't have to go out to work and just stays at home to take care of the children. She doesn't appreciate her good fortune and plays tricks on Hanah. You have to discipline her."
Knox's rage escalated as he grabbed my hair, preparing to smash my head on the floor.
Lily rushed out of the closet and grabbed Knox's arm, crying, "Dad! Don't hit Mom!"
Knox swung his arm and knocked Lily to the corner of the table, blood flowing from her wound.
"Lily!" I held her tightly, shielding her from further harm.
Eventually, Knox stopped, leaving us bruised while he went to dinner with his parents.
He warned, "I'll let you off this time, but you must come with me to the police station tomorrow to bring Hanah back. If you dare to do it again next time, I'll make you pay!"
There won't be a next time.
After this tragic death, I was no longer the timid person I was in my previous life.
I wouldn't let him do that next time.
After he left, I got up and blocked the door, then called the police, "My daughter and I are victims of domestic violence. Please help us!"
