Chapter 4

After we separated at the airport, I spent a month at the beach.

It was ten o'clock in the evening when I arrived at my home.

As soon as I got out of the taxi, my neighbor anxiously pulled me aside.

He asked me if I had had a fight with Luke.

He said that during the time I was away, Luke would often squat at my door when he was drunk in the middle of the night, causing many other neighbors to complain every day.

I felt a little dizzy from my neighbor's words.

I suddenly remembered that before going to the airport that day, I changed the door password and deleted Luke's fingerprint.

During the month I was away, I turned off my cell phone and never turned it on.

I had been abroad for many years and didn't have many domestic friends.

So I would occasionally use my new number to call my parents and to chat with my best friend, Amy.

But I didn't expect Luke to do this.

My phone suddenly rang. It was Amy calling.

After talking to my neighbor, I headed straight for the bar carrying my suitcase.

The lights flickered and the music was deafening.

I told Amy what had just happened.

She raised her eyebrows and drank with me. "Olivia, you like him."

I was silent.

Young people were playing with the wine bottles in their hands. Some of them were sad, some were excited, and some were depressed, indulging themselves in pleasure.

My mood at the moment was complicated.

After I turned on my mobile phone, I got many text messages.

There were missed calls and unread text messages, all from strange numbers.

"So these are the phone calls and text messages from Luke?" Amy said.

I shook my head. I wasn't sure about the phone call, but the text messages must be from Luke.

When Amy's boyfriend Alex White came, the atmosphere in the bar reached its climax.

The air was filled with the scent of alcohol and hormones, and the dance floor was filled with wantonly swaying figures.

Amy and Alex were getting closer and closer.

Their intimacy was particularly eye-catching.

"You didn't call me here just to see you like this, did you?" I asked.

As I took a sip of wine, the alcohol stimulated my nerves.

Hearing my voice, Amy pretended to be angry and hit Alex.

She asked me to come to the bar today to commemorate my three-month love that just died, and also celebrate the new life that I was about to have.

She said, "Olivia, you will have a new start."

The three-month love that had been left behind once again came to my mind.

I almost forgot that the beginning of my relationship with Luke was due to a ridiculous bet.

The day I met Luke was the first day I returned to the country.

Amy hosted a welcome party for me at the bar.

I had a crush on Luke at first sight.

He leaned casually on the booth, with a few buttons of his shirt unbuttoned, his eyes full of playfulness.

Alex was sitting next to him.

Alex always glanced at Amy.

So I made a bet with Amy.

We wanted to see whether I could get Luke, or she could get Alex.

With their eyes meeting and the atmosphere, Alex raised his glass to Amy from a distance.

Noticing something, Luke whispered to Alex.

Later, at the door of the bar, I took Luke home.

But nothing happened that night.

I left Luke on the sofa because I found he was three years younger than me.
