Chapter 3

My eyelids twitched uncontrollably and a sudden, bad premonition rose in my heart.

Frank anxiously asked her, “Celine, what’s wrong? Just tell me whatever it is. Don’t hold back for anyone!”

A flash of triumph flickered in Celine’s eyes before she feigned weakness and collapsed into his arms. “The doctor said I was born with anemia and after becoming pregnant, my malnutrition has worsened severely. I need artificial blood transfusions to keep going. I remember Jane has the same blood type as me, so maybe…”

Before she could finish, Frank decisively interrupted.

“Then let her give you the transfusion! No! Besides her, I’ll also bring those six little brats over to give you blood! As long as you need it, it doesn’t matter if we drain all their blood!”

I stared in shock, feeling utterly absurd and humiliated.

So from the very beginning, the seven lives of me and my children were worth less than a single Celine.

I burst into manic laughter, throwing my head back and shouting to the sky, “Kids, can you see this? The father you once respected is nothing but a heartless beast! If your souls are watching from above, you must see through this monster’s face clearly! Don’t ever meet him again in your next life!”

The sky suddenly darkened, jagged lightning tore through the air with savage fury.

Celine cowered into Frank’s arms, but spat venomous curses at me.

Frank’s gaze hardened coldly as he looked at me, filled with pain and hatred. He ordered his bodyguards to seize me and tightly bind me to the hospital operating table.

A cold, thick needle pierced my vein and a sharp pain stabbed through my chest like a knife.

I could clearly feel the blood in my body slowly draining away. The suffocating pressure was so intense that it felt like it would break my spine.

But this pain, no matter how unbearable, could never compare even to a thousandth of what my children endured.

Soon, I completely lost consciousness.

When I woke up, Kamari was by my bedside.

She scolded Frank while tearfully calling for the doctor to check on me, as if all the blood I had lost had flowed back into my body.

“That wretched bastard! How dare he treat you like this? It’s utterly disgraceful!”

Tears welled up in Kamari’s eyes as she handed me a diary and a plane ticket. The diary was filled with the love my six children had for me.

"Mom, you are the best mom in the whole world. Even without Dad, we still love you!"

"We hope Mom won't cry secretly anymore. You should always be happy and always love us!"

"If one day Mom and Dad get divorced, we promise to stay with Mom!"

As if fulfilling a promise to me, all six children had signed their names at the end.

After being numb for so long, I finally broke down in tears, clutching the diary tightly to my chest.

It felt as though the children were still with me, throwing themselves into my arms like they used to, full of affection.

“It’s Mommy’s fault… Mommy didn’t protect you. Honey, Mommy will take you away now.”

I bowed deeply to Kamari, grateful for the care she had given me all these eight years.

That very night, I canceled all my identity documents, leaving behind only a divorce agreement. Then, I boarded a plane to return home.

The next day, instead of the apology from me and the children that Frank was expecting, he received a panicked report from his assistant.

Frank scolded the assistant angrily, “I told you to find the children’s whereabouts! Why are you so flustered?”

The assistant quickly lowered his head and nervously reported, “Mr. Watson, the children are gone.”

Frank visibly stiffened, grabbing the assistant by the collar: “What do you mean the children are gone? You can’t even find a few kids? Did I hire you just to waste money?”

The assistant's face was filled with fear, unable to meet his eyes. “Mr. Watson, all of them… have already died.”
