After My Alpha Framed Me for Poisoning Our Pup Novel Cover

After My Alpha Framed Me for Poisoning Our Pup

At 9:47 on a Tuesday, the mating bond I'd clung to for three years snapped — not toward me, but away, swinging down the front hall like a compass finding true north. Julian's wolf lurched toward someone else, and my mark went hot, then cold, then slack. I pressed my palm to my neck, trying to hold it in place. I couldn't. I dropped the linens and followed the pull anyway. Then came the accusation that shattered everything: poison, our pup, my name on a crime I never committed. In a pack where the Alpha's word is law, a Luna with a broken bond and a framed crime has no one to trust and nowhere to run.

Chapter 1

The bond snapped sideways at 9:47 on a Tuesday morning, and I dropped the stack of clean linens on the corridor floor.

I knew before I heard the door. Julian's wolf lurched inside my chest — not toward me, never toward me — but out, forward, hungry with a warmth I had felt maybe twice in three years of marriage. My mark went hot, then cold, then something worse: it went slack. Like a rope someone had let go of on the other end.

My hand flew to my neck. I pressed the mark down as if I could hold the bond in place with my palm.

I didn't. It swung away from me anyway, a compass needle finding true north somewhere down the front hall.

I left the linens where they fell and walked.

I turned the corner into the foyer and saw her before Julian saw me. Analia Gomez, dirt on her cheekbone, one sleeve of her jacket torn at the shoulder in a way that looked careful, leaning into Julian like she couldn't quite stand on her own. My husband — my Alpha, my fated mate — had one arm around her waist and the other cupping her elbow. He was murmuring something into her hair.

He had never once touched me like that.

"Prepare the guest suite on our floor," he was telling Marcus, our Beta, without turning his head. "The one across from ours. And send Elara up. Now."

Our floor.

Analia's eyes lifted over Julian's shoulder and found mine.

For one clean, unguarded second, there was nothing trembling in her face. Nothing wounded. Just a small, bright recognition, like a card player looking at the hand she'd been waiting for. Then her lashes fluttered, her mouth softened, and she pressed her forehead into Julian's collarbone with a shaky little breath.

"Luisa," Julian said, finally noticing me. His voice was flat. "Analia's pack was hit by rogues. She's staying."

Not *she needs shelter*. Not *is that all right*. Staying.

"Of course," I said. My voice came out level. I have always been good at level. "I'll have the linens brought up."

He was already walking her toward the stairs.

---

Three days.

That was how long it took her wound to *reopen*.

Julian summoned me to the healer's ward at dawn. Elara stood at her instrument tray with her back very straight and her mouth very closed. Analia lay on the cot in a white slip, one hand pressed dramatically to her ribs, the other wound tight in Julian's.

"Her blood type is rare," Julian said, without looking at me. "Yours matches. Elara will draw what's needed."

"Julian." I kept my voice soft. Careful. "I gave blood at the last equinox drive. The healer said six months minimum before another—"

His eyes came up.

The Alpha tone hit my chest like a hand.

"Sit down, Luna."

My knees folded before my mind agreed. I sat. Elara's throat moved as she swallowed. She swabbed the crook of my arm without meeting my eyes.

The needle went in. Julian bent over Analia and pushed her hair back from her forehead.

"You're all right," he whispered to her. "You're safe now. I've got you."

The bag on the stand filled slowly. My vision started to gray at the edges around the third quarter. I tried to say Elara's name and my tongue felt thick.

Through the bond, I felt Julian's irritation flick toward me like the flick of a horse's tail at a fly. *Inconvenient. Weak.*

I slid sideways off the stool.

Elara caught me under the arms before I hit the tile. Her fingers pressed against the pulse in my wrist — hard, deliberate, twice. *I see this. I see this.*

Julian did not turn around.

---

That night I lit the small lamp on the writing desk in the corner of what used to be our bedroom and opened the pack supply ledger to the last page. I lifted the false bottom I had built into the binding two years ago, back when I still thought organization was love.

I slid a fresh sheet of paper onto the blotter.

My hand shook. I wrote anyway.

*Tuesday. 9:47 a.m. Arrival of A. Gomez, escorted personally by Alpha. Guest suite our floor, ordered by Alpha, no consultation.*

*Friday. 6:12 a.m. Emergency draw. My blood. Alpha's order, no consent obtained. Collapse witnessed by E. Healer. Marcus present.*

My wolf stirred.

She had been so quiet for so long I sometimes forgot she was in there at all — a small muted thing, apologetic, the way I was apologetic. But now something in her chest was moving. A low, restless heat, coiling and uncoiling under my sternum. Not anger yet. The shape of a room where anger might one day be able to stand up.

I pressed my palm flat between my breasts and breathed.

*Someone has to remember,* I told her. *Even if no one believes me. Someone has to remember.*

I capped the pen. Closed the ledger. Slid it back onto the shelf beside three years of supply records Julian had never once opened.

---

By midday Saturday she had moved the kitchen.

I came down to help with the noon meal and found three of my Omegas rearranging the pantry to Analia's instructions. The weekly supply order sat on the counter, resigned under Julian's name in Analia's handwriting. She was already seated at the long communal table when Julian walked in.

At the head. In my chair.

Julian sat down beside her without a word.

Across the table, Soren — a Delta I had trained for two full years, a boy I had taught to read a supply manifest and how to speak to frightened pups — started to rise. He half-lifted his hand toward the empty seat next to Analia, mouth opening to offer it to me.

Julian's eyes cut to him.

No tone. No word. Just weight.

Soren sat back down. His ears went red. He did not look at me again.

I walked the length of the table and took the last chair at the far end, among the Omegas. I unfolded a napkin across my lap. I ate.

Halfway through the meal Analia laughed at something Julian said and let her fingers trail down the inside of his forearm.

Her eyes found me over the rim of her glass at exactly that moment.

She held them there while she drank.

My wolf uncoiled another inch under my ribs.

At the head of my table, my husband smiled at another woman and covered her hand with his. Around me, the quiet architecture of loyalty I had spent three years building — every mentored Delta, every Omega who knew my name — bent one degree lower under the pressure of his approval turning elsewhere.

Across the room, Analia set down her glass and, without looking away from me, reached for the salt cellar at Julian's elbow like she had been reaching across that table her whole life.
