Chapter 1

While traveling in the countryside, my son Tommy was bitten by a mad dog. There was a rainstorm in Arikrn City at that time. I couldn't drive, so I asked my husband Jason Ford to drive us to the hospital.

However, Jason said that he was attending a banquet and couldn't leave, asking me to go to the hospital by myself.

The mountain road was deserted, and by the time I rushed to the hospital in the heavy rain carrying Tommy, it was too late.

That night, on TV, I saw Jason accompanying his sister Rachel Ford in delivering speeches at the fundraising banquet.

During the darkest moment of my life, he and Rachel held hands and smiled happily.

Late at night, Jason sent me a text message.

"Tommy's minor injury is nothing. Rachel will be unhappy if she doesn't hold my hand."

"Jason, let's get a divorce."

"Divorce? Shirley, why do you want to divorce me? If we divorce, you can't take Tommy with you. Besides, if you leave me, how can you make a living?"

Hearing him mention Tommy, I felt very sad.

Jason and I had been in love for two years and had been married for eight years. Our son Tommy was six years old. Rachel, who was adopted by the Ford family, loved Jason and always pestered him. Jason was annoyed, so he sent Rachel abroad. For this reason, Jason's mother Lily Ford had always disliked me.

Since I was young, I had a dream of punishing evildoers, so I studied forensic medicine as a graduate student. But Lily didn't like that. She contacted my professor and prevented me from graduating. I was forced to drop out of school and join the company of the Ford family.

I didn't expect that Jason would leave me in the storm and accompany Rachel.

My body was numb, and I didn't want to say anything more, so I hung up the phone and put Jason on the blacklist.

I found a cemetery for Tommy surrounded by flowers beside a stream.

Smelling the sweet fragrance in the air, I could imagine his unhappy expression.

"I'm a boy. Why did you choose such a sweet place for me?"

I was a little dazed and tears flowed uncontrollably.

A week later, I went to the cemetery again with Tommy's favorite flowers, but I saw Jason and Rachel.

"Jason, you are busy, but you came here with me to see Lucky. Won't it affect your work?"

Jason gently helped Rachel gather the hair that was scattered around her ears.

"I will always be with you when you need me."

When Jason was with me, he often said his time was precious and asked me not to delay his work.

Therefore, I did everything myself and never dared to bother him.

Now it seemed that I didn't deserve it.

As they were talking, they walked down from the arch bridge over the stream and saw me at the door.

Jason stopped and his expression turned cold.

"Shirley, are you following me?

"Don't you want to divorce me? Why do you chase me here?

"I thought you would disappear for a few days and leave me alone, but I didn't expect you to be so sticky."

I didn't want to waste time with such a stupid person, so I turned away to leave, but Rachel blocked my way.

She smiled brightly, but there was pride in her eyes.

"Shirley, please don't be angry at Jason because of me. I accidentally fell into the water last week, and my dog Lucky died to save me. Jason raised a large sum of money for the dog foundation to help me commemorate him. Today he accompanied me to see Lucky here."

I looked at Rachel. "What does it have to do with me? Get out of the way!"

"Shirley, do you have to speak so harshly?"

Jason protected Rachel tightly behind him as if I had bullied her.

In the past, I would argue with him, but I was tired now because of Tommy's death.

"I don't care."

I turned and left. Jason was stunned as if he hadn't expected my reaction.

After all, this was the first time I didn't hysterically question and verify my importance in his heart when I saw he was with Rachel.

For the first time, Jason left Rachel and caught up with me.

His tone softened. "Why haven't you contacted me for so many days? How is Tommy?"

I blocked Jason for a week. He would have realized something was wrong if he even sent me a message, but he didn't. Instead, he wanted to accuse me as usual.

"If you care about him, why didn't you go home or even send me a message?" I said in a cold tone.

"I was on a business trip and didn't have time..."

He looked a little nervous, probably because he didn't expect that someone who had always been gentle and submissive to him would speak to him like this, and his explanation was contradictory.

He could spare some time to be with Rachel, but he couldn't spare any time to care about his son.

I didn't want to talk with Jason any longer, so I was about to leave.

He grabbed my hand.

"I was wrong to abandon you and Tommy that day. I will tell you in advance next time. Don't hold it against me, okay?"

He probably thought I was just mad at being left behind.

In the past, every time he took the initiative to make peace, I would breathe a sigh of relief and feel happy.

But this time I remained calm and shook off his hand, trying to leave.

Jason frowned, and seeing that I was stubborn, he showed an ugly face.

"Rachel has been innocent since she was young. I was worried about letting her attend the event alone. Can you be reasonable?"

Rachel was adopted by Lily when she was young and was the apple of the Ford family's eye. Everyone thought it was natural for Jason to take care of her.

I felt sad.

Rachel was favored by everyone, but should Tommy and I be abandoned?

I didn't say anything, and Jason's face became gloomy.

"I've already apologized. What else do you want?"

"Your affairs with her have nothing to do with me. I'm in a hurry, so don't get in my way."

"Can you please stop talking like this? Rachel is my sister, and I should protect her. Even if she liked me before, she was young at that time. How can you hold grudges against her?"

Rachel was thirty years old. Was she young?

I sneered, "Jason, when Tommy was just born, you said that you would protect him forever."

Jason remained silent.

I shook off his hand and walked away.

Jason angrily cursed behind me, "Fuck!"

As soon as I entered the cemetery, I received a call from the person who made the photo for Tommy on his tombstone, saying that the address I gave was wrong and that another photo had been pasted on the tombstone.

I stumbled inside.

Tommy loved beauty very much. After washing his hair, he would always use a hair dryer and make his hair look cool.

Every time I asked him, he would puff out his chest and tell me seriously, "Boys should pay attention to their image."

I customized his favorite photo for his tombstone, hoping that he would always be in high spirits in heaven.

"Jason, the fortuneteller said we should bury Lucky here, but this is someone else's cemetery. Let's pay some money to the family of the deceased."

When I arrived, Rachel and Jason were placing a bouquet of flowers in front of Tommy's tombstone.

The photo on the tombstone was replaced with a dog's photo.

Tommy's urn was thrown in a mess on the muddy ground beside.

"Who allowed you to do this?"

As I pushed Rachel away, I picked up a stone nearby and threw it at the photo on the tombstone.

"Shirley, are you crazy? What's wrong with you?"

Jason grabbed the stone and stopped me.

"Jason, get out of here!" I shook his hand off and knelt on the ground to remove the cover of the base of the tombstone.

Seeing that I was about to touch the dog's urn, Rachel acted coquettishly to Jason, "Jason, Lucky saved my life..."

Then she winked at the bodyguard beside her.

The bodyguard pushed me to the ground.

My face was pressed against the ground and rubbed, causing obvious pain.

"This is the cemetery I bought. Give it back to me!" I stared at Jason.

"Shirley, every penny you make is from my family. I can take it back as I please. Now I give this cemetery to Rachel, and it is hers. You can buy another one. You just pushed Rachel, so apologize to her." Jason looked at me coldly.

"I won't!" I gritted my teeth, wishing I could kill Rachel.

Rachel took Jason's arm and said in a magnanimous tone, "Forget it, Jason. Shirley has always misunderstood me over the years. I'm used to it. But I'm worried that her crazy behavior will damage the image of the Ford family."

"My wife is free to be what she wants. No one else can control her."

Rachel was choked and pursed her lips unhappily.

Jason looked at me, wanting me to compromise like I did every time before.

"Shirley, don't you always regret not having a wedding with me? If you apologize to Rachel, I will hold a wedding for us when I have time."

"I won't. The divorce agreement is in the study. Jason, let's get divorced!"

Jason's expression changed slightly, and then he sneered.

"How could you bear to do that? You can't take Tommy away. He is only six years old, and you want him to have no mother?"

"I would rather he didn't have an incompetent mother like me!" I said in a hoarse voice.

Jason frowned.

"What are you talking about?"

While Jason and I were arguing, Rachel picked up Tommy's urn.

She walked up to me and looked down at me. "It's just a stranger's urn. Shirley, is it worth it for you to make such a fuss with Jason?"

"Don't touch him!"

I used all my strength, kicking and biting frantically to break free from the bodyguard's grip. Then I rushed to Rachel and took back my son's urn.

Rachel fell to the ground during the scuffle. She cried out in pain with tears in her eyes, revealing her red knees.

"Jason..."

"Shirley, you are going too far!" Jason said in a deep voice.

Ignoring him, I took out the dog's urn and prepared to put Tommy's urn in it.

Suddenly, Jason took the urn in his hands.

"It's just the ashes of someone. Is it so important to you?"

He sneered and threw the box into the stream.

My pupils contracted violently. "No!"

I desperately jumped into the stream to search for it.

But it was too late.

When I found it, the ashes in the box had been completely washed away by the stream.

"No..."

Everything went dark before my eyes and I fainted.

When I woke up, I saw Jason's relieved expression.

"Shirley, you finally woke up."

Looking around, I found I was in the hotel owned by Jason.

He looked at me with guilt on his face.

"I didn't expect you to jump in the stream. The doctor said you needed to rest.

"It's all my fault. I'll take care of you."

Jason wanted to hold my hand as usual, but I immediately shook his hand away.

His phone rang.

He looked at me awkwardly and hung up the phone with one hand.

But his phone kept ringing.

I said to Jason calmly, "Get out."

Jason went out and never came back.

I walked to the door but was asked to go back by the bodyguard in the name of protection.

Sensing something was wrong, I opened my phone and found that I had become famous on the internet.

The incident originated from Rachel.

In addition to being the daughter of the Ford family, Rachel was also a well-known actress.

With her outstanding appearance and strong background, she was a famous female star.

She set up an image as a young lady who was gentle and considerate.

In her videos, she was kind, cheerful, and generous.

She kept many stray dogs next to her private villa in Arikrn City.

She shared her daily life in her video, and tens of thousands of fans watched it every day. I appeared in her video and became the "abuser."

After I fainted in the cemetery, she updated her daily life during the time I was unconscious.

In the video, her eyes were red as if she had just cried.

"It's half past one in the morning, but I still don't feel sleepy at all.

"I seem to see Lucky staring at me as soon as I look up.

"Everyone says that celebrities are glamorous on stage, but in private, it's not like that at all.

"Maybe I was unlucky. I bought a cemetery for my dog that saved my life, but it was the same one as someone else's. She smashed my dog's tombstone.

"Maybe she can't bear to see dogs have their resting place. After all, dogs don't have human rights.

"Apart from the dog's owner, who would care?

"Many dog abusers always act superior and have strong malice on dogs.

"Now the dog was abused, but who knows if the malicious people will abuse the people around us in the future?"

...

Rachel didn't expect this video would go viral after it was released.

Because she was a star, the video got many people's attention.

Yesterday, I was still busy with Tommy's funeral.

But today, my mobile phone text messages, emails, and various social media apps were all filled with insulting remarks.

My address was also discovered, and many dog lovers threatened to block me at my doorstep.

Through the internet, it was easy to find and punish the "bad guys".

Just by moving their fingers, they would gain popularity and applause.

[She is such a vicious woman!]

[Her mother is mentally ill, and she is also a lunatic.]

[I didn't find her wedding video on the Internet. She must have had a child out of wedlock.]

Everyone was a defender of justice and wanted to punish me.

Someone posted a video, saying that my child was a bastard without a father and that I was so shameless to even snatch a dog's grave.

The most popular one was about me having a child out of wedlock and robbing a dog cemetery.

I couldn't bear it any longer and posted my marriage license and cemetery purchase note.

I didn't care what other people thought about me, but my son shouldn't be bothered.

Rachel posted a photo of the cemetery usage note online, saying: [I believe in justice.]

Netizens were not stupid. Some of them found out from clues that the photo Rachel posted was photoshopped.

Public opinion began to favor me, and many people cursed Rachel on her Facebook.

The image that Rachel had set up over the years collapsed, and the number of her fans dropped rapidly.

The next day, Jason came back.

"I'm sorry, Shirley. Rachel had a stomachache yesterday, so I went to take care of her..."

I had no expression on my face.

He changed the subject and asked with concern, "Where is Tommy? You know I'm too busy to go home. I only have one child. You should take good care of him.

"He is weak, so I asked someone to bring back some specialties from Saroh Country..."

At this moment, he looked like a father who cared about his child. I wondered what he would do when he knew the truth.

Just as I was about to speak, Jason's assistant called and said nervously, "Mr. Ford, we have found out the reason why Mrs. Ford bought the cemetery. Your son died of rabies a week ago..."

"What did you say? Is that my son's grave?" Jason's face turned pale, and he asked with trembling lips.
