Chapter 3

Regaining my thoughts, I remembered that I had forgotten Samuel twice.

To prevent such a situation from happening again, I wrote it down in a notebook I carry with me to remind myself repeatedly.

He was Samuel Whitman.

I thought I wouldn't forget him in this way.

Today was my twentieth birthday.

Samuel didn't come.

I waited for him all night, holding the cake.

The wind at night was freezing, making me shiver.

Since I had lost my memory, my health had been deteriorating.

After a while, I felt dizzy.

But I still gritted my teeth and persevered.

With a highly dizzy head, I fell asleep unknowingly.

Opening my eyes again, I found I was in a completely unfamiliar place.

The streets were empty late at night. I had an inexplicable fear of the darkness, so I curled up in fear.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of glass bottles breaking, followed by wailing for mercy.

"Where is she?"

"I don't know... I don't know anything..."

Hearing their conversation, I felt it was incredibly familiar.

Walking forward along the sound, I saw Samuel picking up a wine bottle on the ground and smashing it on a man again and again.

He didn't look like the cool, aloof, and well-educated person in school at all, but more like a ruthless school bully.

I asked in a timid voice, "Samuel, what are you doing?"

Samuel paused before looking at me. At that time, his eyes were bloodshot. It seemed that he was still unable to get rid of his anger.

I took a step back in fear, but he hugged me in the next second.

He hugged me tightly, unwilling to let go. He seemed to have found a lost treasure.

"Sorry."

I felt his body trembling with fear. Then, I was startled as I felt a hot and wet heat on my neck.

Samuel cried.

But why?

To alleviate his emotion, I tugged at the corner of his clothes.

Then, I said softly with a smile, "Samuel."

"Happy birthday."

That night, Samuel took me home.

Unfortunately, the birthday cake was already dirty because it fell to the ground.

As if sensing my upset, Samuel pursed his lips slightly with a frown. Finally, he said only three words, "Wait for me."

Later, Samuel came back with a cake in his hand.

Jumping off the sofa in surprise, I ran to him immediately.

"Is this for me?"

Samuel's forehead was covered with sweat. Due to running so hard, his breathing was unstable. However, meeting my expectant gaze, he smiled and said softly, "Yes, it's for you."

Taking it happily, I opened it and saw that the cake was my favorite pink.

It was strange that Samuel seemed to know all my preferences.

Sitting with me at the table, Samuel put the birthday crown on me and lit the cake candles.

It was just a simple birthday ceremony, but I couldn't help reddening my eyes.

In my mind, this was the first time someone had spent my birthday with me since I was five.

Seeing me in a daze, Samuel poked my cheek with his cold fingertip. Then, he said simply, "Make a wish."

Perhaps the moonlight tonight was too charming so that Samuel's tender eyes intoxicated me. Then, I subconsciously said what was in my mind, "Samuel, I want you to kiss me."

I was about to make it up after realizing something was wrong.

However, I was pulled into his arms in the next second. My head was forced up.

Then, a light kiss fell on the lips.

My heartbeat suddenly accelerated, and it was apparent in the silent room.

The boy was highly pure and inexperienced. So, just a simple touch was enough to make his ears red and even his breathing a little disordered.

His voice was low and hoarse as if he was trying his best to restrain his surging desire. "Is this enough?"

My response was leaning forward to kiss him again.

I blocked everything Samuel was about to say.

He kissed me fiercely and urgently. It seemed that he was eager to vent. But considering my physical discomfort, he slowed down his movements and became extra gentle.

Before my consciousness faded, I pressed myself against his chest, listening to the overlapping heartbeats. And then, I said word by word, "Samuel, I want us to be together forever."

The young man who was holding me was stunned, and even his body became quite stiff.

After a long while, he responded in the silent room, "Okay."
