Chapter 3

I screamed in despair, tears streaming down my face as my heart felt like it was being stabbed repeatedly.

"Jasmine! My Jasmine!" I reached out desperately for the ashes in the air, but they slipped through my fingers, scattering all around.

"Shirley! Are you crazy? What are you screaming about? How embarrassing!" Tucker scolded, frowning as he pulled me into his arms.

"Fuck off!

Get the hell away from me!

You monster, Tucker! Don't touch me!" I yelled back.

I struggled hard, biting into Tucker's arm out of sheer anger.

He stared at me in shock, wincing from the pain but not pulling away.

I tasted blood, my strength spent. I collapsed to the ground, scooping up the ashes, my voice hoarse as I murmured, "Jasmine... Jasmine..."

"What's taking Logan so long? Why hasn't he brought Jasmine yet?" Tucker complained.

Tucker picked up his phone to call Logan, but the voice on the other end wasn't Logan's.

"Hello, this is the officer from the Garden precinct. Are you Tucker Lloyd?" the voice asked over the phone.

"Yes, that's me. What's Logan done?" Tucker frowned again.

The office said, "Your wife reported that Logan committed violent acts against her and your daughter, leading to your daughter's death.

We've confirmed Logan's crimes through investigation, and he's been arrested..."
